Yeah, Uh Oh

There’s a long line of people waiting to get into the lecture hall in the high school. The place is packed. I manage to slip through the crowd and go explore the school at night. Of coarse, I’m barely away from the lecture hall when a girl calls me up on the stage to announce Erin’s child’s weight. I manage to dodge my way back into the lecture hall and shout from the back, “1010!” I don’t know how I know, but I know that’s the right answer. Erin must have told me.
The next day, I get dressed at my dad’s house, where me and my mom live. I’m trying to find my magenta shirt which I’m sure is mixed in with a pile of pink laundry in the laundry room. I can’t find it, so I decide to just wear my magenta jacket, a tank, and a loose brown shirt. I head off to school.
After school me and my friends are walking down the sidewalk in the direction opposite the parking lot. We each have a bag full of cool stuff like candy, soda, and little toys. We’re planning a party or just got done with a party. We walk down Cardinal Road and see Bell in her car talking to some neighbors about two of her seven dogs getting off their chains. Some pun she says makes me laugh, but I keep walking because I wasn’t actually part of the conversation and it’s weird that I was ease dropping. Make it to my friend’s house [where my house is on Cardinal Rd, but actually my aunt and uncle’s house on the inside] and she says that dinner is ready if I want to join her. I set down my VHS and politely ask for a slice of pizza. Weston’s dad, who is her dad, says as long as I don’t feed Boots, it’s fine if I have some. Take a slice of pineapple and put it on a plate with an upside down slice of cheese pizza on accident.
When I go home my mom is upset that I didn’t call her and let her know how long I was going to be. I apologize to her, not realizing I completely spaced calling her.
The next day is Saturday, and I want to go to the school to study. It’s odd but I like the thought of being in the school alone. So, I walk up to the school which looks like a mix between the middle school and the high school, and the janitor opens the first set of front doors. I walk right on by. He points me to the bathroom, thinking the only reason I’m here is to go to the restroom. I walk down the corridor he pointed me down, and almost accidentally go into the mens room. I backtrack and see the janitor is gone. Now that he thinks I’m in the bathrooms and he’s out of sight, I head for the second set of front doors that will open into the commons area. I’m hoping they’re unlocked. I twist the handle, and rejoice when the door swings open for me. However, as soon as I walk through I’m faced with a team of two men in suites, three men in orange hazmat suits, and a horrifying human skeleton robot that has what looks like a weedkiller spreader in it’s hand.
“Yeah, uh oh.” One of the men in normal suits says to me sarcastically. “Just turn around and go through the door. Don’t panic.”
I try not to. I go through the door I came from and wait in the in-between area. The man talking to me takes a scanner from one of their desks set up in here and goes over my body with it. “You’re clear,” he informs me, “but that was close. Next time maybe you shouldn’t walk into a hazardous situation.”
I argue that I had no idea this was going on at all, and the doors were not locked. Though, I’m suspicious the outside doors were before the janitor unlocked them for me… but that’s besides the point. I sit in a chair and he says he wants to give me a lesson. I’m willing to learn anything. He says that there was a radioactive situation that was keeping all the headphones, no matter what plug-in they plugged into, from working. Some kind of radio wave barrier. It sounds so odd to me but I had been noticing an interference in my headphones, so I believe him. And now, when I try them, my headphones work great.
I call my mom, who is upset again that I didn’t tell her where I was going when I left, as I walk away from the school through the busy town. I apologize to her, again, near tears as I tell her everything that just happened. [End]
