Storm Alert Won't Go Off

Me and mom live alone in my uncle’s house. I’m in my (Johnathan’s) bedroom, when I notice my mom is getting dressed and ready for the day. I join her in her (Shelby’s) room, and ask her what’s going on. She seems to be moving urgently. She tells me the alarms aren’t going off.
My stomach sinks. This is it. This is the end of the world. I look at our storm alert system above her bed and sure enough, no one is sending out a signal. Clearly that means that the control center for the alarm system is down, and that can only mean that this is the end.
I run and get dressed in my white and grey stripped jacket, and grab my Lord of the Rings ring at the last second. All I can think of is that I didn’t stock up enough can food to prepare. I look at myself in the mirror and try to put my braid back in my hair. I try to use a crimp bead instead of tying it. It’s not easy but I get it to work. Then, I see that on the other side of my head I still have my second braid in, tied with a blue band.
I go outside and see a ton of people are standing around in the driveway for a party, mostly younger kids. Kevin is the first to greet me as I step out the door. I try to tell him that the end is coming and that he needs to help me get everyone to leave and go home himself, but he just thinks I’m crazy. So, realizing I’m going to have to do this alone, I go toward the garage. Two younger guys are in the empty garage, talking about something that is on the skinnier guy’s phone. I slink in the shadows, not catching their eye until I’m near the back. I know they don’t see me for more than a silhouette, and if I act quickly I might be able to intimidate them before they realize I’m just a girl. I lunge out of the shadows to freak them out, and it works. They run off shouting. I leave the garage and throw my hood up, having to fish my ring out of my hair because I forgot I had it in my hand as I put my hood up. I go around scaring people into going home, leaving Mary and some random guy alone in the bushes snogging. I’m three quarters of the way done clearing my yard when I hear screaming, screaming that isn’t because of me. It’s Mary. I turn around and see the guy she was snogging has turned into a psycho- he’s trying to eat her face. It seems like half the people that are left have lost it- and are trying to do the same to the other half. I am standing on the outside of the fence where the car is normally parked. I spot a boy sitting in a clear plastic bin with a girl. He kills the girl mercilessly, easily. I throw basketball after basketball at him, but he blocks effortlessly with a ball of his own. Finally I pick up a two by four and smash it into the ball the boy holds near his head, popping the blue thing and deflating it- killing the guy with it. I remove the plastic from the bin that they were sitting in, with Mary and Cory’s help. We tuck the guy into the space now cleared from the plastic in the bin. My first kill. [End]
