I am alone in the house with my pup Skye. Suddenly sirens start wailing. I look out and see tanks, cannon fire, and gun blasts. I rush to the back door just as some Russian soldiers arrive, trying to break in. I barely get the window latched and the door locked in time. Then it's a race to the front door to do the same. They're trying to shove the door open, and almost succeed. I barely get it closed and latched.
After a bit of a time-lapse, I go out the front door when I think it might be safe. The Russians haven't tried to break into my house in a few days. I step out the door and a few steps into my dad's lawn timidly. I see that the fighting has stopped. A sheriff car comes down the road, closely followed by a car driven by Professor McGonagall. I feel flooded with relief. They saw me. They're going to save me.
I then go outside with my mom when the Sheriff's car pulls up in front of our house. The woman driving tells us to get in. There's a young girl in the front, a girl slightly older in the back seat, and a girl younger than both in the very back row of seats. The girl in the back seems to be overrun by foam blocks that the woman driver insists are important to survival. I ask if there's room for a dog. She says no, that the refugee camp that she's taking us to won't accept dogs. I'll have to leave Skye behind. I know what that means: I have to leave Skye behind to die.
I refuse. I tell her that she'll just have to go on without me. I prepare to try to talk my mom into going without me, knowing that she's better off at the camp than staying behind with me on this suicide decision. [End]
