I am working for my father (though in the dream he is not my dad). He is vacationing with his family, a boy and a girl in the back seat and a woman driving that I cannot see her face. He is paying me and my boyfriend to go into a restaurant and order them food, and bring it back out to him in the burgundy car they are in so they don't have to take the time to do it themselves. As payment, he is allowing us to keep some of the money to go out to dinner ourselves. We agree, and he gives me a long list of what everyone wants. We take it into the place, and get seated at a booth next to a window. The window is on my right, and my boyfriend sits across from me. We order our drinks, he wants an ice-tea and I want a sprite. He already knows what he wants for food, but I have to look at the menu because I have no idea. Right at first I have a hard time interpreting the menu, but I eventually am able to focus. I see a picture in the upper right hand corner of shrimp cabobs. One is buttery shrimp with herbs, the one behind it in the images is creamy shrimp, and the one behind that one is dark barbeque shrimp. They all look delicious. At the bottom of the image I notice a platter covered in shrimp, and realize that comes with the meal. It all does. The waiter comes back and gives us our drinks, two ice-teas. He finds out he made a mistake and offers to take back the tea, but I tell him it's fine and that I don't mind the tea. I continue to look at the menu, not absolutely sure that's what I want or can afford, and hope that the waiter goes away for a minute more so I can make up my mind. My boyfriend goes ahead and orders, and I follow suite by ordering the shrimp. I look out the window as the waiter leaves and see my dad's car. I try to make out faces. I can make out the little boy in the back seat's face because it's pressed into the glass as he sleeps awkwardly, surrounded by plush blankets. The little girl is out of sight. The front seats are also heaped with blankets, and I have a hard time making out body's let alone faces. At first I think that my dad is in the front seat. That's what makes sense to me. I see a silhouette of a head, and try to make it out. The person in the passenger seat rolls over so his face is facing the window, and I see it is clearly my dad. I again try to make out who the other person is. I see blond hair in a messy bun, but the person is completely foreign to me. My boyfriend asks if I'm okay. I tell him I'm fine. We've apparently already eaten, as we pay. I buy a bouncy ball for my collection with fifty cents as part of the bill, and we go outside onto the boardwalk. [End]
Relative to Real Life~
Night of March 3rd, 2013
Real-life characters: Dad.
Dream-created characters: Boyfriend, boy and girl in back seat, unknown woman in car, waiter.
Real-life places: Inside of car (vehicle is dad's burgundy car).
Dream-created places: Restaurant, boardwalk.
Different than real life: Obviously my dad is really my dad unlike what my dream told me, I've never bought lunch in this manner for him or anyone else, I don't currently have a boyfriend.
Precognitive: No experiences yet.
Reoccurring: No.
My analysis: I've had difficulty with my father dating other people since my parent's divorce. In my dream I felt like I should see my mother in the place of the unknown woman, but I knew that was not her place any longer. I think it's my brains way of saying that the space my mother used to belong is now inhabited by a stranger, and that saddens and upsets me.

In anthropology, woman corresponds to the passive principle of
nature. She has three basic aspects: first, as a siren, lamia or monstrous being who
enchants, diverts and entices men away from the path of evolution; second, as the
mother, or Magna mater (the motherland, the city or mother-nature) related in
turn to the formless aspect of the waters and of the unconscious; and third, as the
unknown damsel, the beloved or the anima in Jungian psychology. In his Symbols
of Transformation, Jung maintains that the ancients saw Woman as either Eve,
Helen, Sophia or Mary (corresponding to the impulsive, the emotional, the intellectual, and the moral) (33). One of the purest and all-embracing archetypes of
Woman as anima is Beatrice in Dante’s Commedia (32). All allegories based upon
the personification of Woman invariably retain all the implications of the three
basic aspects mentioned above. Of great interest are those symbols in which the
Woman appears in association with the figure of an animal—for example, the
swan-woman in Celtic and Germanic mythology, related to the woman with the
hoof of a goat in Hispanic folklore. In both cases the woman disappears once her
maternal mission has been completed and, similarly, the virgin qua virgin ‘dies’ in order to give way to the matron (31). In iconography it is common to find parts
of the female figure combined with that of a lion. The Egyptian goddess Sekhmet,
characterized by her destructiveness, had the body of a woman and the head (and
therefore the mind) of a lion. Conversely, a figure with a lion’s body and a
woman’s head appears in the Hieroglyphica of Valeriano as an emblem of the
hetaira (39). The inclusion of feminine, morphological elements in the composition of traditional symbols such as the sphinx always alludes to a background of
nature overlaid with the projection of a concept or of an entire complex of cosmic
intuitions. In consequence, the Woman is an archetypal image of great complexity
in which the decisive factor may be the superimposed symbolic aspects—for
example, the superior aspects of Woman as Sophia or Mary determine her function as a personification of science or of supreme virtue; and when presented as
an image of the anima, she is superior to the man because she is a reflection of the
loftiest and purest qualities of the man. In her baser forms as Eve or as Helen—
the instinctive and emotional aspects—Woman is on a lower level than the man.
It is here, perhaps, that she appears at her most characteristic—a temptress, the
Ewig Weibliche, who drags everything down with her, and a symbol comparable
with the volatile principle in alchemy, signifying all that is transitory, inconsistent, unfaithful and dissembling. See also The Loved One and Sophia.
