I am in the back yard on the porch, when a wasp attacks me. I try to swat it away and run into the grass area of the yard, but it continually dives at my head. I see it sting me just below my elbow on the inside of my left arm. I see I'm bleeding, and wipe away the blood to see a vicious red ring around the hole. There is no question, the wasp has stung me.
I make it to the hospital (because I'm allergic to wasps) and I have to sit in the dark, blue lit hall before they give me care. I call my mom on my cell and tell her that I don't think I'm allergic because the ring around it isn't getting bigger and it isn't swelling, both are true, but inside me I know that I will die soon because of this sting. She can't be there with me, and is upset about me not getting care immediately, so I say those things to comfort her. [End]

"Are all my affairs in order?"
"Am I aligning myself with my goals?"
"Am I procrastinating about something?"

The wasp is a totem of shape shifting and interdependence. Most wasp species are solitary. Unlike bees, which are hive oriented, the wasp is independent and prefers to work on his own rather than in a group. Solitary wasps have little patience and will swarm all over a task they are performing with a gusto. Wasp people are independent thinkers and have difficulty relating to authority figures. They prefer to do things in their own way. Individuals that hold solitary wasp medicine often receive recognition as the frontrunners of new trends or ideas later in life. Because wasps can be either independent or social, those with this totem often display two different yet distinct personalities, aggressive or communal. Personality shifts can create chaos for those in relationships with wasp medicine people. Just when you think you know the person, they change and become someone else. The wasp teaches those with this medicine how to use diversity to their advantage. By observing the wasp we can learn how to shape our outer image and become more connected to our inner knowing.

Like every closed circle, the ring is a symbol of continuity and wholeness. This is why (like the bracelet) it has been used both as a symbol of marriage
and of the eternally repeated time-cycle. Sometimes it occurs in animal form, as a
snake or an eel biting its tail (Ouroboros); sometimes as a pure geometrical form
(8, 20, 32). It is interesting to note that, in some legends, the ring is regarded as the
only remaining link of a chain. Thus, it is told that when Jupiter allowed Hercules
to rescue Prometheus, it was on condition that the latter should thereafter wear an
iron ring, set with a piece of rock from the Caucasus, as a symbol of submission
to his punishment (8). Another type of ring is found in the circle of flames
surrounding the dancing Shiva as he performs the cosmic dance; this flame-ring
can be related to the Zodiac. Like the Zodiac and the Ouroboros of the Gnostics,
it has an active and a passive half (evolution, involution), and stands for the lifecycle of both the universe and each individual being: the circular dance of nature
in eternal process of creation and destruction. At the same time, the light radiated
by the ring of flames symbolizes eternal wisdom and transcendental illumination
(60).

Many people reported having dreams about hospitals and surgery. This appears to be a relatively common dream setting. Most of us are in some need of healing. The healing may be physical, psychological, emotional or spiritual. By paying attention to this dream you may be able to identify the source of your pain, and where and how the healing needs to take place. Think about why you or someone else was in the hospital in the dream. You may ask yourself, "What is going on in the dream? What is the prognosis, and what is the cure?" Answering these questions in light of a situation or issue from your daily life could be very helpful and, at times, enlightening. Therefore, try not to get upset by your dream, but rather pay attention to its message. All things that flow and grow were regarded in early religions as a symbol
of life: fire represented the vital craving for nourishment, water was chosen for its
fertilizing powers, plants because of their verdure in spring-time. Now, all—or
very nearly all—symbols of life are also symbolic of death. Media vita in morte
sumus, observed the mediaeval monk, to which modern science has replied La vie
c’est la mort (Claude Bernard). Thus, fire is the destroyer, while water in its
various forms signifies dissolution, as suggested in the Psalms. In legend and
folklore, the Origin of life—or the source of the renewal of the life forces—takes
the form of caves and caverns where wondrous torrents and springs well up (38).
To dream that you are in a hall, represents your ability to share and get along with others. If the hall is empty, then it symbolizes the unexplored and untapped aspects of your character. Consider the activity that is taking place in the hall and the people that were there.
