A mother of four boys (between twenty and seven) and three girls (a twenty-year-old, a sixteen-year-old, and a six-year-old) sees her children die in a fiery house explosion in a precognitive vision. The day following this vision, she puts her middle sons and me (the middle daughter) in a two story house, her eldest son and daughter with a family friend, and takes her youngest son and daughter to work with her, hoping that by splitting up her family she can avoid the catastrophe.
The rest of the dream feels like watching a Final Destination movie.
At the house that I am at with the two boys, we are playing a "killer" game, where they pretend to chase me down and kill me. At one point I pretend to be a severed head, and actually become a living severed head. A little later they try to hook up a big heater in the stairway, but the plug in is small compared to the outlet and won't fit correctly. I go over to them to help them, now looking like Becky (a girl I knew in high school). The plug in makes a loose connection briefly, and the heater turns on. It makes a blasting, scary noise and hit me with an unexpected wave of hot air. It is a recipe for a catastrophe. I tell them if we take it upstairs, I bet it will fit in the plug-in's better.
At work, the mother is trying to make a demonstration with a fancy hologram machine that is displaying bits for a drill. She punches buttons, trying to make the machine produce a physical form of the bit so she can handle it. The machine makes a garbage disposal noise, and almost blows up. Still needing the bit for her coworkers and boss, she tries again. The youngest kids sit in the corner coloring coloring books.
Then, at the family friend's house, the family friend draws a gun on the eldest girl, and she draws her gun on him.
"I'm going to that house, and you can't stop me," he says viciously, inching toward the door. The house he is taking about is the two story house that I and the two boys are at now, the same house the mother saw explode.
"I'll kill you first," the eldest warns.
The man laughs, "You can't," he says as though she doesn't have the guts to kill him, and he's out the door.
She chases after him, despite her oldest brother's objections. He follows her to protect her.
When the mom gets off work, she goes to check on her middle children first. The house is up in flames. All of her children, except the youngest who cling to her pink skirt, are dead. [End]
Relative to Real Life~
Night of October 30th, 2012
Real-life characters: Becky.
Dream-created characters: All children, family friend, mother, coworkers, boss.
Real-life places: None.
Dream-created places: Both houses, workplace.
Different than real life: I do not look like Becky, I do not have that many siblings, I didn't die in a house fire nor was ever part of one, my mother does not work at a drill-bit company nor does she wear pink skirts, do not live in a two story house.
Reasons:
Sons dying = I've been playing Assassin's Creed II, which the main character's brothers and father are hung publicly.
Plugin issues = Some of the plugins in my house have three prongs, and some have two, and it's been driving me crazy when I need to plug something in like a heater or fan.
Precognitive: No experiences, and hopefully it stays that way.
Reoccurring dream: No.
Mystics have always traditionally considered the feminine aspect of
the universe as a chest, a house or a wall, as well as an enclosed garden. Another
symbolic association is that which equates the house (and the above, related
forms) with the repository of all wisdom, that is, tradition itself (4). In architectural symbolism, on the other hand, the house carries not only an overall symbolism but also particular associations attached to each of its component parts.
Nevertheless, the house as a home arouses strong, spontaneous associations with
the human body and human thought (or life, in other words), as has been confirmed empirically by psychoanalysts. Ania Teillard explains this by pointing
out that, in dreams, we employ the image of the house as a representation of the
different layers of the psyche. The outside of the house signifies the outward
appearance of Man: his personality or his mask. The various floors are related to
the vertical and spatial symbols. The roof and upper floor correspond to the head
and the mind, as well as to the conscious exercise of self-control. Similarly, the
basement corresponds to the unconscious and the instincts (just as sewers do, in
symbols pertaining to the city). The kitchen, since this is where foodstuff is
transformed, sometimes signifies the place or the moment of psychic transmutation in the alchemical sense. The intercommunicating rooms speak for themselves. The stairs are the link between the various planes of the psyche, but their
particular significance depends upon whether they are seen as ascending or descending. Finally, there is, as we have said, the association of the house with the
human body, especially regarding its openings, as was well understood by
Artemidorus Daldianus (56).
To see a house in your dream, represents your own soul and self. Specific rooms in the house indicate a specific aspect of your psyche. In general, the attic represents your intellect, the basement represents the unconscious, etc. If the house is empty, then it indicates feelings of insecurity. If the house is shifting, then it suggests that you are going through some personal changes and changing your belief system. To dream that a house has no walls, represents a lack of privacy. You feel that everyone is looking over your shoulder or up in your business.
To dream that you are cleaning your house, signifies your need to clear out your thoughts and get rid of old ways. You are seeking self-improvement.
If you live with others in your waking life, but dream that you are living alone, suggests that you need to take new steps toward independence. You need to accept responsibilities and be more self-reliant.
To see an old, run-down house in your dream, represents your old beliefs, attitudes and how you used to think or feel. A situation in your current life may be bringing about those same old attitudes and feelings. Alternatively, the old house may symbolize your need to update you mode of thinking. To dream that your house is damaged, indicates your waking concerns about the condition of your house.
To see a new house in your dream, indicates that you are entering into a new phase or new area in your life. You are becoming more emotionally mature. If you are locked out of the house, then it represents rejection and insecurity. You feel you are being left behind.
To dream that your house is broken into, suggests that you are feeling violated. It may refer to a particular relationship or current situation in your life. Alternatively, it indicates that some unconscious material is attempting to make itself known. There are some aspects of yourself that you have denied.
To dream of a haunted house, signifies unfinished emotional business, related to your childhood family, dead relatives, or repressed memories and feelings.
To dream that a house has disappeared, indicates that you are not feeling grounded. You feel uprooted by a particular circumstance or relationship in your life.
To dream that water is rising up in your house, suggests that you are becoming overwhelmed by your emotions.
To dream of building a house, you will make wise changes in your present affairs.
To dream that you own an elegant house, denotes that you will soon leave your home for a better, and fortune will be kind to you.
Old and dilapidated houses, denote failure in business or any effort, and declining health.

It is common to dream about houses. They usually symbolise our emotional and psychological selves. All of your experiences, stages of development, and parts of your conscious and unconscious life may be represented by that house. The house may be representing issues concerning a particular dilemma in your life, or it may be more general and comprehensive. Either way, if you pay attention to the details in this dream, you may learn a thing or two about yourself.
Mother-symbols are characterized by an interesting ambivalence:
the mother sometimes appears as the image of nature, and vice-versa; but the
Terrible Mother is a figure signifying death (31). For this reason, Hermetic doctrine held that to ‘return to the mother’ was equivalent to dying. For the Egyptians, the vulture was a mother-symbol, probably because it devours corpses
(19); it also stood for the means whereby Hammamit (the universal soul) was
split up into separate parts to form individual souls (19). For the same reason, the
maternal sentiment has been said to be closely bound up with the nostalgic
longing of the spirit for things material (18), or with the subjection of the spirit to
the unformulated but implacable law of destiny. Jung mentions that in Jean
Thenaud’s Traité de la Cabale (of the 16th century) there is a mother-figure
actually represented in the form of a god of destiny (32). He mentions further that
the Terrible Mother is the counterpart of the Pietà, representing not only death
but also the cruel side of nature—its indifference towards human suffering (31).
Jung also notes that the mother is symbolic of the collective unconscious, of the
left and nocturnal side of existence—the source of the Water of Life. It is the
mother, he argues, who is the first to bear that image of the anima which the man
must project upon Woman passing from the mother to the sister and finally to the
beloved (32). A predominantly maternal social pattern—a matriarchal society—
is characterized, according to Bachofen, by special emphasis upon blood relationships, telluric allegiances, and the passive acceptance of natural phenomena.
Patriarchies are distinguished by a respect for man-made laws, the favouring of
works of art and craft, and obedience to the hierarchy (23). Even now that
matriarchal societies, sociologically speaking, no longer exist in the West, psychologically man is nevertheless passing through a phase when he is in all essentials dominated by the feminine principle. To come triumphantly through this
stage and to reinstate the masculine principle as the guiding-rule of life—bringing
to the fore the characteristically patriarchal qualities noted above—would signify
an achievement of the kind that was once symbolized by the transformation of
the ‘lunar work’ into the solar, or by the transmutation of mercury into sulphur.
To quote Evola: ‘Symbols of the earth-mother are: water, the mother of the waters, stone, the cave, the maternal home, night, the house of depth, and the
house of strength or of wisdom.’
