Danger In America

As far back as I can remember it begins with me being interrogated by a couple of government G-men. I'm show two agents, only one is shown first, there's somebody standing infront blocking my view of his partner. The agent is being played by Kurtwood Smith. I roll my eyes, I actually voice out loud "oh great it's Red Foreman." The guy infront then moves out of the way and the partner is revealed, almost like the fact that it was Red Kurtwood Smith was important? The two are apparently there to interrogate me cause me being a known activist they believe me to be a threat to Homeland Security. The only reason they're not arresting me other than they have nothing to hold me on at the present moment (though there's ways around that for them) is because I 'possibly' possess information on a known domestic terrorist. They want me to give up my partner though I explain to him he's not my partner he's my college roommate or something? They're real slimy in the way they ask it, making it seem like I was the one that brought it up? -They let me know they'll be watching me and walk away and leave...

The next sequence involves me playing the son-in-law in an All in the Family ripoff, full with studio audience laughter. Even though it's made to resemble the 70s' the show takes place in the 2000s'. The characters consist of me, my wife, and her parents. We travel down from Canada to visit with the in-laws for the holidays. It's not Christmas that's for sure cause it's quite warm out. -We arrive at the house which is in LA instead of New York for this dream. The inside of the in-laws house is 70s' stylish with yellowish wallpaper pattern with designs on it. The father's got a sort of Western cowboy type accent.

Suddenly it becomes a taboo with the parents and becomes the subject of conversation when it becomes known that in me and my wife's luggage I personally possess a handgun. They grow fearful for their daughter's safety and talk to her "sweetheart did you know this?" She replies nonchalantly "Oh yeah of course I know, what's the big deal Daddy?" -That's typical Gloria, I guess that would make me the Meathead? I always felt on that show Gloria sure never seemed to think Mike did anything strange. He could be having sex with dead bodies and Gloria would be like "oh Daddy, what's so bad about necrophilia, times are changing Daddy."

After careful deliberation the father finally decides to be the man and step up. I'm totally smiley, happy-go-lucky. Almost incapable of frowning. The father very casually very quietly "say there, tell me this, why do you got a gun son? I thought all you Canadians up there were peace loving hippies?" -I laugh it off and answer very friendly "aw well we are, but I've heard about you Americans, you all are a PARANOID bunch, I figured as long as we're down here I really need to protect my wife, you all have those 'gangs' down here, plus there's racism." The father pauses, he collects his thoughts carefully. I don't know if it's important but the dream seemed to make it CLEAR to me at this moment the fact that the father was sweating. I assume there was a heatwave outside but I also notice a strange look on the father-in-law's face, almost like guilt. "Well you know son, things have changed quite a bit down here since back in the day." I laugh, "well I'll play it safe anyways, just encase." The father begins looking nostalgic and soft piano music starts playing as the scene is about to cut away to a flashback. We ASSUME he's about to tell us all a story of the 60s' and 70s' and the race riots. "If you wanna hear about racism, lemme tell you a lil' story about back in my day son..."

The dream fades to a flashback sequence with the audience applauding. The picture quality looks older, with a fuzziness to it. We start off with a large office in a building, it's a telemarketing business. All of the workers seem to be of African American ethnicity. The camera pans right and in comes the father at a younger age, which is messed up cause he seems to be 'older' possibly, and being played by a completely different actor. The actor seems like Steve Martin, full with his comical zaniness. He is accompanies by a young woman, also black, giving him instructions on what his job consists of. She smiles and seems very friendly. The father also seems rather friendly and smiley as she talks to him. He seems unable to stand still, he comedic mannerisms almost seem to be like that of Robin Williams on Mork and Mindy. The tells him after she's done explaining if he has any questions to simply come get her. She walks off camera to the right.

The father stands there uncomfortable and not moving, not going anywhere. The audience starts giggling already cause they feel even though nothing's happened yet, with him around something's ABOUT TO, like Tim Conway. We bumps in to various workers, everyone seems polite and friendly and says hello, he says hello back. After a while a puzzling look comes over the father's face and he disappears off camera to the right for a long pause...

When he comes back on camera the audience BUSTS A GUT, cause he makes a huge entrance all of a sudden dressed up in Jamaican clothes and accessories. Nobody notices at first. He even walks funny, the father sits down to start working. When the laughter finally starts to die down you hear him answer his first call and talk in a THICK Jamaican accent. As soon as he starts doing that all the co-workers start turning their heads to look and think to themselves "What on Earth?" -The father starts drawing attention to himself and the co-workers all look very confused...

It's never makes it far enough for me to see what happens, it just ends abruptly. I can't say for sure cuse it never went any further but given my initial gut instinct I feel as though had I watched to the end I would have seen something really 'sketch-comedy'ish. Like this guy would probably have some wacky but logical explanation for something so offensive, like maybe he gets nervous at every job he works at, and keeps messing up, and he dresses up like this and pretends to be Jamacian as a way to relieve stress. And before those black co-working started opening a can of whoop ass, the father would probably say something like "What -what's racist about this?..." --It's really preculiar, it's amlost like the flashback has nothing to do with the show at all, and almost seemed to be making fun of it like a sketch-comedy like Madtv. It's a sitcom that makes fun of 'itself'? Weird?...

By the way I wake up here!
