The Clock Strikes "12"?

07/17/12

I seem to be stuck here in Penticton? -My family is bickering (as usual) and looking around for me as I'm lagging behind. Rather than follow the usual round-up I decide to look around and go my own way. I 'never' would have thought my mom would actually take off on me?! -They drive home without me and just 'assume' I'll make it home on my own, and if I don't I don't, it's as simply as that!-

I don't drive, so this poses a real problem for me? I spend most of the time while the sun's still up just basically going through the motions. I don't know where to go, what to do, who to talk to. I just wander around from store to store, getting all mixed around when it comes to finding my way around. (It's funny but the dreamworld has a strange way of making everything 'expand' as well as 'contract' as I seem to be able to get around cartoonishly fast from one store to another but at the same time, if I have to venture down a part of Penticton I've never been before, or know relatively little about, Penticton's suddenly never BEEN so 'huge'?!!) On top of it all, I'm trying to locate my cat. We went to Penticton and apparently took the cats with us, all were accounted for except for poor Alex? I'm so worried for here cause Alex is a pretty panicky yet trustworthy girl, I don't think she'd make a good city cat?

I bump in to various people, teenagers and people coming in and out of the stores. There's a few shady looking individuals lurking around to which I go into the stores to try and avoid if not hide from. -This part is still a lil' fuzzy to me, can't recall all that good. Somehow I locate Alex, I'd recognize that cry anywhere. YAY! Come here girl. I scoop her up and put her on my lap and make sure she holds on for dear life no matter what cause all of a sudden I appear to be moving around on a chair? It seems to be one of those office chairs, you know the kind. It swivels and has rollers on the legs. I seem to be using this chair to get around.

There's a part where I go inside the entranceway to a busy mall and/or supermarket. Listen to teenage girls talk, I don't mean to eavesdrop, but I'm just trying to figure out what to do while hanging on to Alex, trying to calm her down. So far she hasn't lept out of my lap, and if y'all only knew Alex you'd know how out of character that is for her?

Finally I go out into the parking lot and my approach has changed. Instead of avoiding people, now I'm suddenly talking to everyone that stares at me. There's this hill that I roll up to the top of in the parking lot, hoping my chair will make it all the way, it almost doesn't and I have trouble with the top. One middle aged blonde lady with glasses laughingly sympathizes as she's walking across the street to where I am. I explain to her my situation and ask her where the local bus station is - I'm reluctant to ask her for a lift?

She directs me towards the bus station and when we get there - the system in which the bus runs couldn't be more strange? -It seems as though there's some sort of 'crossover' between the bus and the train cause there's this magnetic strip that I go over top of to get to the front desk. There the blonde lady leaves me in the care of this elderly gentleman who seems to make it his personal mission to help me learn how to book a seat on the bus. I feel embarrassed cause to all the 'city people' who eventually start showing up to watch me (the place was empty when I walked in) all this is common knowledge, but to me it's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen?-

On order to purchase a ticket on the bus (there's apparently no cashier/front desk person available at the present moment - "but wait, who was that old man then, I thought he worked here?") what you have to do is write down your information, confirming your purchase, reservation, and personal information, on a piece of paper - or is it a key, I'm writing on a metallic key of some kind? Then as soon as you do that, you're supposed to 'toss it' across the front desk, into the desired box on the back wall. I look and there's like a MILLION boxes back there and they all represent different desired locations apparently, it's my job to throw it in the right one, if you hit the wrong one you get booked on the wrong trip and have to start all over again writing out the paper work and throwing another key.

There seems to be a certain amount of time that goes by, I feel a gap in between this moment? The old man stays with me the whole time trying to help me with my throws. My cat wandered off by now, I've lost her again? -Finally I get curious, I ask how late the buses arrive cause I'm concerned about staying here after dark. Did you know you can't book a hotel room without picture ID? -I ask the old man what time it is right now out of curiosity, he looks tired and looks to his watch, grumbles the answer, and as he looks at his watch a mental image pops into my mind's eye showing me a clock stating what time it is?

12: 00am??? That can't be right, and I tell him that too? I point out the sky, we book look outside and I point out that it 'can't' be the middle of the night, it's daylight outside??? He swears it's midnight. He begins, as if talking to himself, saying something stoic and nostalgic, troublesome though that apparently either something has passed by or 'the time has come' for something? I can try and repeat his exact words here but to be honest it's still a lil' fuzzy and it might distorting the truth? -As he speaks I see the same mental imagery forming like a static thought mirror over his head. I can see into his thoughts, it shows the same 12: 00 midnight image as well as the sky and the city and fireworks and reaction. Suddenly I realize, it is indeed the middle of the night outside the building but some strange phenomena has occurred, possibly to the world's sky all over, in which the sky is glowing white, an eerie luminescence that keeps the sky well lit and man is able to see their way around pretty good in the dark, almost as if it's daylight?

I move in to the thought image and see people setting off fireworks, celebrating maybe? --The next thing I know I've apparently got a small video crew with me following me around taping my actions, I feel like I'm in an episode of "Ghost Adventures". I tell the camera guys to keep a lookout for Alex as I'm still trying to find her. What could have been a sad ending has a delightful pleasant surprise twist!-

We're walking down a flight of stone step stairs as this scene happens outside the building ("the bus station was a 'ground level' only building, where am I now?") when I spot Alex off to the side. She's mixed in with a bunch of stray cats who are sleeping. There's a mother and her kittens, a bunch of cats piled on top of each other, breathing heavily in their sleep, lethargic. Man, these kitties look pretty pooped out? It's a lil' dim to see cause of the shadow, the mother is in the lowest part, at the bottom of a pit. Then I look up eye level and see Alex. She perks up as soon as she sees it's me and meows!
