Hard to explain. The whole thing seems to come full circle back to the beginning. In the beginning all the characters seem to split into two halves. I'm on one of these halves, and there's my family on the same side - but I seem kind 'separate' from them, kind of a loner. The other half is a group of teenage girls, don't know if I'm supposed to be a brother to one of them or a friend? But the rest of the girls, are chatty and abrasive, they remind me of the girls who used to pick on me in high school. I socialize with them in the dream but we're obviously not all buddy buddy with each other.
The girls are putting together this babysitting gig, almost like a 'fad' of some sort. They're trying to become MASTER babysitters like their idol, some sort of spiritual self-help guru, black with a sort of mother/goddess personality. Don't recognize her now that I'm awake but if I had to describe her the best I could I'd say real Maya Angelou type. I don't really see her in person till later on in the dream. -I mostly just see the girls on the phone and making arrangements and everything at the start.
The next thing I know, there's massive disasters happening! Seeming to shake everybody out of their beds or their houses. I see my family reacting very awe-stricken. I feel an earthquake - the ground's all messed up, there's significant flooding, the power goes out, and glowing white beams of light/ET spacecrafts start coming down to Earth, if not rising up from the inner crust, if not materializing into our dimension by the way of some other?
I recall the first moment I see the ETs, I am awe-struck, it's a thrilling moment - I have no idea how to react. Initially my first instinct is to call someone, get my family's attention or something, I know everyone I know would like to see this for themselves. But rather, instead I try to get close to the ETs. I really wanna make contact with them. I'm curious - but my reasons for wanting to reach out are different from that of Richard Dreyfuss in "Close Encounters". I'm a lil' better educated on the subject than that. Still, the ETs may possess technology that may be able to help me with what I'm trying to accomplish in my waking life?... But almost as fast as the ETs are there, they're gone. They fly away superfast, and rather than fly off into the sky, it's almost like they soar into another dimension!
But I know they're not gone. This is only the beginning. This is really happening - the ETs are finally making their move, and there's no way the skeptics are gonna be able to 'doubt' this one!
After the spectacle has come and gone, the moment has died down, the flooding has subsided, the power's obviously back on cause I call the girls. Who are somewhere far away. (How far did they go to babysit???) It's like they're in another city, I'm on the phone asking them how the conditions are over there? I tell them what I saw, they say people have been seeing much the same over there? The weather's just as bad also...
There's a moment involving a talk show and Elijah Wood as their guest. I feel as though the ending to this segment shows up in another sequence later in the dream, the two are directly linked to each other but the talk show seems to change from the beginning to the end one. Either that or Wood is on the same two shows at the same time, the two images overlapped overtop of one another? The first one feels more like the daytime and Elijah is talking to Ellen. -They seem to be reminiscing over Elijah's career. Ellen brings up a clip that Elijah brought with him, of the 'earlier' days in his acting career. Everybody blushes cause Elijah is both proud and really embarrassed by all this. -The clip shown is from a lesser know movie or tv series that Elijah did when he was younger -'pre' LOTR. Some sort of indie sleeper. In the clip he's sitting in a chair looking up at a doctor of some sort, perhaps it's a waiting room. He's got on a tightly clad shirt, that's almost ocean blue or sky blue kinda color, long sleeved. His hair is very straight, kinda shaggy in front, long bangs. He's got rather pretty eyes that he blinks at the doctor during the scene. He's really cute in this movie. The audience goes 'awwwww' when they see the scene. Elijah laughs when they come back goes it seems like so long ago. Everyone applauds Elijah for his work in the film. (I see a department store of some kind in the background during this sequence?)
In the next scene I'm trying to help a guy out. There's some ragged, potentially dangerous lout wandering around town at night. My memory's a lil' hazy about how I know him or what we were just discussing as I know the scene comes in already in the middle of a conversation. All I know is eventually the topic of a place to stay comes up - Brandy is there in the alley with me and him. We both look at each other. Brandy rolls her eyes cause she knows she's the one who's gonna have to volunteer her place for this guy to stay.
He's really not such a bad guy once you get to know him, I only meant by the description above is simply that he seems the kinda character that while you may wanna be friends with him, he's not exactly the type you'd want staying the night in your house? I don't know how to explain what I mean by that statement. --Besides, my house just doesn't have the room?...
I know he's a member of the Terbasket family, but I made special mention in my notes that this guy apparently can't even spell his own last name. He misspells Terbasket on the side of a wall. I don't know what he's writing with or how he spells the name, I just wrote down that he misspelled it.
Me and my Mom are wandering around town. What town? I 'think' this is Penticton, it certainly looks bigger than Keremeos, it's got a lot more stores. I'm a lil' embarrassed to be out walking around with my mom. She keeps talking to me, but I seem scarce to get a word in. I recall most of the dialogue comes from her in this scene.
There's some sort of marathon jog going on around town at the time. As luck would have it, I spot my old arch nemesis running down the street in my side vision. I groan! --I have never met this person before in my waking life, he exists entirely in the dream. He's got short hair, acts like a douche, and talks like an 'a-hole'. He's picked on me my whole life. I have my mom get up against the wall cause I don't want him to see us. -Now that I look back on it this seems like a 'moronic' idea, him and the group running behind him are coming right for us!
Before long he catches up with me and my mom, and he hasn't changed one bit, he starts cracking jokes at me and acting like a 'dick' all over again. Getting in my face! -I don't know what he's so cocky about - he's the one wearing a 'pink' jogging shirt? That's what I think to myself. -Normally this jerk is just the high school 'jerk' but on this particular encounter he takes it a step too far and ends up shoving my mom or doing something to her to try and provoke me.
I works! I grab the guy and start beating the crap out of him. The two of us are struggling, really going after each other. (I guess somehow I should 'know' this is a dream, simply by the fact that 'physical contact' in all my dreams like these always seems to be a lot 'softer' and a lot more 'numb' as supposed to real life?) -As I'm struggling to kick this guy's ass we eventually fight backwards and the two of us end up going sailing over a railing of some sort where we fall down a hill and into the lake or river. -I wrote down in my notes that it was a 'cliff', same different in my opinion?...
We finally return to the girls and their babysitting gig. The job's all done and the time's come for the guru lady to stop by and pay a visit to check out the girls' work. -From what I can tell they seem to have done an EXCELLENT job, everything's quiet and clean. -But I'll never forget the look on the ladies' faces when they walk in the door and take a look around?
The guru lady and her associate insist that the girls did EVERYTHING WRONG? They are baffled by what the girls have done. They don't seem to be angry, they just feel the girls have SERIOUSLY misinterpreted the guru lady's teachings? Everything's perverted in her eyes. Even though the girls are at a loss as to where they went wrong? The ladies don't know where to start?
I wrote down in my notes that by the end of this scene, I know know know how I know this but the girls seem to be losing faith in the lady's competence. She's beginning to seem more and more like a 'quack' to them? They can't believe they put this much work in, and followed the advice of their idol to a 'T', and 'this' is the Wizard behind the curtain in the castle of Oz if you catch my drift?
The last thing I see before it switches scenes if the guru lady trying to 'salvage' what's been done? She goes right to work ordering the girls around in a gentle demeanor, telling them where to 'correct' their problems? I see her starting by drawing the curtains, these curtains are pure silk white...
The talk show is saying goodnight for the evening. They thank Elijah for being on the program. The show has turned from Ellen to Conan O'Brien. As the audience applauds and they say goodnight, over the credits Conan does a comedy sketch.
I don't know how this us supposed to be funny, I just recall the audience busting a gut laughing. There's a doorway, Conan tells everyone the show's over "let's get out of here, common common common, let's go let's go let's go!!!" -And everyone laughs as a whole bunch of gimmicky costume freaks come barreling out of the doorway and off camera. The line of characters with elaborate costumes is ENDLESS.
Eventually Conan comes through the doorway again. And the EXACT same characters that were following behind him. Some sort of optical illusion? -The row of costumed characters goes around in a ring and comes 'full circle' - I WAKE UP!
