I forget what made me realize the dream. I was walking down one of the hallways in my old high school. Except for a few figures near the end of the hallway, it was empty. I passed by an open door, and I saw an old teacher of mine motioning for me to come into the classroom. At this point I already knew it was a dream, so I had no obligation to comply, but I decided to enter anyways and see where that action would take me.
There was no formal class taking place, just a handful of students sitting casually around the classroom, apparently just listening to this teacher speak. I tried to pay attention to what he was saying, but my mind began to wander (still!).
I noticed a former classmate of mine sitting next to the wall. He looked as he does now, not as he looked in high school. He looked totally bored. I leaned over to him and whispered "You know this is a dream, right? You don't have to stay here." He looked confused at first but then his eyes lit up with surprise. He thanked me quietly before hurrying out of the room.
I decided that I had better hurry off as well. After all, who wants to waste a lucid reliving adolescent boredom? I began to spin. I got so much momentum going that I didn't know if I would ever be able to stop myself. After spinning much longer than I meant to, I was finally able to slow down and open my eyes.
I found myself just outside the kitchen door in my parent's house. I tried to walk in, but I had a common difficulty (or at least it's common to me) where it feels like there's a glitch with the visual aspect of my dream. It's hard to explain. It's like I get stuck on one image, like a picture is being held up in front of my face and that's all I can see, but the freedom of movement is still there. I can feel my body moving away from the image, but it's still right there in my face. Frustrating stuff I tell you.
