Painting Sunsets

I don't remember how I got there, but I ended up in a studio, somewhere on my college campus. Since I'm not technically enrolled yet, I guess this dream is future tense. It was a friend's art studio, and they'd convinced me to try painting with acrylics. Now, I'm a great digital and sketch artist, but the most I've ever painted have been my kitchen walls, so I was unsure. However, I remembered what my father told me, to start from the back and come forward, and began painting the sky.

Sunrises and sunsets have always had a profound effect on me, so I began with one broad red stripe below the middle of the canvas. An orange stripe formed above that, and I blended the colors until they faded seamlessly together, and did the same to the shades of pink, blue, and indigo, placing a few stars in the darkness. Next came the clouds, and then the great expanse of grey-blue waters, sparkling warmly where the fading light met the waves, and even a flock of seagulls swooping through the breeze. Somehow I managed to time everything so that every part had time to dry before I painted on the next layer and I finished before the day was out.

It was a beautiful piece, and I knew I could probably get a lot of money for it if I sold it at a Convention with my Dad's work, but I really felt like I should give it to this orphanage down the road. I still wanted to make some money, though, for all the effort I put into it, and the joy it would give those children could be multiplied exponentially if I had some prints made, so I went down to the publishers' office. Apparently I had a friend in there too, otherwise they wouldn't have let me in. I asked them flat out how much it would cost to have 200 or so laminated pictures of that size printed and payed for it, making sure that was taken care of before putting the painting into a friend's truck. I had a lot of friends here, somehow.

Anyways, we drove to the orphanage. I went up to the front desk and asked the ladies there how they would feel if I donated something to them. I don't remember what they said, but it was enough to go out and bring the painting in with my friend. They were ecstatic and gushed over the painting, and decided to hang it up behind the front desk so that everyone could see it.

Things after that became very blurry, but I get the feeling that my father was proud of me and that I painted even more paintings. Some of them faded quickly from my memory, but others, like the sunset stand out crisply, as if I could touch them. I have the feeling that, given the chance, I really will end up painting them someday. If this dream ends up becoming a synchronicity, though... Well, maybe my Third Eye is opening wide enough for me to have visions. That would be fun.
