there are already several people in the bed, but I climb in anyway and lay along the very edge. suddenly there is a great commotion as one of the sleepers' back has been gouged and slashed up, blood everywhere. children running, screaming. everything settles back down. I intend to keep a watch in case in happens again, and lay in the dark room under white sheets beside the other pale bodies. in the corner of the room a large bird, peacock shaped but with a scarlet macaw's coloration, leaves her perch in a ruffle of feathers. her scaly feet are huge, talons curved and wicked sharp. she lands on his back again, clearly the perpetrator.
gregory and I play in the yard. mat makes an appearance.
I am awoken by a text message from josephicus. when I fall back asleep, we are sitting, waiting, just inside the doors of a massive cathedral. the congregation is past another set of doors, but this room we inhabit is like a small grocery store or gas station connivence shelves. I choose wasa crackers and search for avocados, but there is no produce. I slip inside the main doors and walk past the huge gathered crowd, into another room off the other side. it is a grocery. one side is filled with all sorts of produce, families, mostly non-white, perusing for their food. I locate an overripe avocado and wander towards the unexplored side.
a section of morel mushrooms as large as a forearm give way to large hunks of meaty flesh. I choose some sort of bird, large as a turkey but misshapen and strange. it disgusts me but I can not keep myself from bringing it with me, cradling it in my arms. I find my mother sitting in a crowded pew and sit beside her. more people are trying to scoot past me in order to join our crowded row. Renea dressed as a highschool cheerleader approaches me. I say nothing, she looks excited to see me, but I mostly ignore her. my mother chastises me.
my meat hunk is now in a reusable cloth grocery bag and I am feeling increasingly guilty about having it in my possession. I run back to the grocery side of the church, holding the handles of the bag. near the meat is an asian family selecting their protein. I swing the bag up over the short glass divider and leave it there. when I get back to the pew, the preacher is leading the our father, but the congregation has their hands upturned like they are about to receive communion from their places in the pew. I feel confused, like I used to know how to preform all of these ritual actions but it has been too long and I have forgotten. suddenly their voices swell and many of the people seem to thrash a bit in religious ecstasy. the ceremony is over. everyone is milling about, moving off. I run to the doors, expecting to see a flood of people out on the street.
The only people I see are walking past the church. no one exits. I am trying to meet back up with josephicus but I can't remember what he looks like. I mill about outside for a moment, looking across the street to the green space of a park. when I walk back inside the church, everyone is gone. I see alicia in a dress, sweeping some dust into a pan. I greet her but wander off.
the grocery has turned into a sort of labyrinth mansion. I can hear a crowd in the distance but can't see them. I am searching for them, climbing stairs with highly decorative carpets that are suddenly frighteningly rickety when I am walking along hallways that seem to float in the air. I feel like someone is going to stop me and tell me that I don't belong here. I open a door and instead of a victorian mansion I feel like I am in some sort of concrete bunker underground or behind the scenes at a mall in the service exit. this is all wrong, but I can't escape. every door is the same, and they all lead nowhere.
On Roman coins, the peacock designates the apotheosis of princesses, just as the eagle does of victors (8). The peacock’s tail, in particular,
appears in the eighty-fourth emblem of the Ars Symbolica of Bosch as a symbol
for the blending together of all colours and for the idea of totality (32). This
explains why, in Christian art, it appears as a symbol of immortality (20) and of
the incorruptible soul (6). The common motif of the two peacocks symmetrically
disposed on either side of the Cosmic Tree or hom—a feature which came to
Islam from Persia and subsequently reached Spain and the West—denotes the
psychic duality of man (related to the myth of the Gemini) drawing its life-force
from the principle of unity (6). In the mystic horology, the peacock corresponds
to dusk (50). In Hindu mythology, the patterns on its wings, resembling innumerable eyes, are taken to represent the starry firmament (50).
To see a peacock in your dream, represents spring, birth, new growth, longevity, and love. It is a good omen, signaling prestige, success and contentment in your relationship or career. Alternatively, the peacock signifies pride, confidence and vanity. You may be showing off too much or are overly arrogant with your success and achievements. A peacock may also suggest that many eyes are watching you.
For persons dreaming of peacocks, there lies below the brilliant and flashing ebb and flow of the stream of pleasure and riches, the slums of sorrow and failure, which threaten to mix with its clearness at the least disturbing influence.
For a woman to dream that she owns peacocks, denotes that she will be deceived in her estimate of man's honor.
To hear their harsh voices while looking upon their proudly spread plumage, denotes that some beautiful and well-appearing person will work you discomfort and uneasiness of mind.
Seeing a peacock in your dream, represents spring, birth, and new growth. It is a good omen, signaling prestige, much success and contentment with your career. It may also be telling of your confidence and even arrogance over your success.
When you are dreaming about this bird, you may be conveying a message of beauty and pride. We all know that some pride may be a good thing, but too much pride is not so good. Consider all of the details of your dream and try to understand the message. Is the peacock in your dream beautiful and proud, but unassuming, or is he noisily flaunting his beauty to all that are willing to look?
Peacock Symbolism
The peacock is a possessor of some of the most admired human characteristics, and is a symbol of integrity and the beauty we can achieve when we endeavor to show our true colors.
In history, myth, legend and lore, the Peacock symbolism carries portents of: Nobility, Holiness, Guidance, Protection and Watchfulness.
Here is a keyword quick-list of peacock symbolism:

Immortality
Refinement
Incorruptibility
In Greco-Roman mythology the Peacock is identified with Hera (Juno) who created the Peacock from Argus whose hundred eyes (seen on the tail feathers of the Peacock) symbolize the vault of heaven and the “eyes” of the stars.
In Hinduism the Peacock is associated with Lakshmi who is a deity representing benevolence, patience, kindness, compassion and good luck.
Similar to Lakshmi, the Peacock is associated with Kwan-yin in Asian spirituality. Kwan-yin (or Quan Yin) is also an emblem of love, compassionate watchfulness, good-will, nurturing, and kind-heartedness. Legend tells us she chose to remain a mortal even though she could be immortal because she wished to stay behind and aid humanity in their spiritual evolution.
In Babylonia and Persia the Peacock is seen as a guardian to royalty, and is often seen in engravings upon the thrones of royalty.
In Christianity the Peacock symbolism represents the “all-seeing” church, along with the holiness and sanctity associated with it. Additionally, the Peacock represents resurrection, renewal and immortality within the spiritual teachings of Christianity.
Themes of renewal are also linked to alchemical traditions to, as many schools of thought compare the resurrecting phoenix to the modern-day Peacock.
Contemplate the powers of the Peacock when you need more vibrancy and vitality in your experience. The Peacock can also help you on your spiritual Path, and breath new life into your walk of faith.
The Peacock can rejuvenate self-esteem levels too. If you’re feeling “blah” and blue, imagine the glorious, techno-color display the Peacock provides. This puts us in a proper mood to embrace your own nobility. In no time, you’ll be walking tall and proud as a Peacock too!

Are you showing your talents like you should? Are you seeing with your many "eyes"? Pay attention to intuition for there are many facets opening up. Peacock will help endurance of spiritual and physical matters.
Mother-symbols are characterized by an interesting ambivalence:
the mother sometimes appears as the image of nature, and vice-versa; but the
Terrible Mother is a figure signifying death (31). For this reason, Hermetic doctrine held that to ‘return to the mother’ was equivalent to dying. For the Egyptians, the vulture was a mother-symbol, probably because it devours corpses
(19); it also stood for the means whereby Hammamit (the universal soul) was
split up into separate parts to form individual souls (19). For the same reason, the
maternal sentiment has been said to be closely bound up with the nostalgic
longing of the spirit for things material (18), or with the subjection of the spirit to
the unformulated but implacable law of destiny. Jung mentions that in Jean
Thenaud’s Traité de la Cabale (of the 16th century) there is a mother-figure
actually represented in the form of a god of destiny (32). He mentions further that
the Terrible Mother is the counterpart of the Pietà, representing not only death
but also the cruel side of nature—its indifference towards human suffering (31).
Jung also notes that the mother is symbolic of the collective unconscious, of the
left and nocturnal side of existence—the source of the Water of Life. It is the
mother, he argues, who is the first to bear that image of the anima which the man
must project upon Woman passing from the mother to the sister and finally to the
beloved (32). A predominantly maternal social pattern—a matriarchal society—
is characterized, according to Bachofen, by special emphasis upon blood relationships, telluric allegiances, and the passive acceptance of natural phenomena.
Patriarchies are distinguished by a respect for man-made laws, the favouring of
works of art and craft, and obedience to the hierarchy (23). Even now that
matriarchal societies, sociologically speaking, no longer exist in the West, psychologically man is nevertheless passing through a phase when he is in all essentials dominated by the feminine principle. To come triumphantly through this
stage and to reinstate the masculine principle as the guiding-rule of life—bringing
to the fore the characteristically patriarchal qualities noted above—would signify
an achievement of the kind that was once symbolized by the transformation of
the ‘lunar work’ into the solar, or by the transmutation of mercury into sulphur.
To quote Evola: ‘Symbols of the earth-mother are: water, the mother of the waters, stone, the cave, the maternal home, night, the house of depth, and the
house of strength or of wisdom.’

An architectonic structure, apparently aimless, and of a pattern
so complex that, once inside, it is impossible or very difficult to escape. Or it may
take the form of a garden similarly patterned. Ancient writings mention five great
mazes: that of Egypt, which Pliny located in lake Moeris; the two Cretan labyrinths of Cnossus (or Gnossus) and Gortyna; the Greek maze on the island of
Lemnos; and the Etruscan at Clusium. It is likely that certain initiatory temples
were labyrinthine in construction for doctrinal reasons. Ground-plans, sketches
and emblems of mazes appear fairly frequently over a very wide area, but principally in Asia and Europe. Some are believed to have been conceived with the
purpose of luring devils into them so that they might never escape. It is to be
supposed, therefore, that, for the Primitive, the maze had a certain fascination
comparable with the abyss, the whirlpool and other phenomena (8). Nevertheless, Waldemar Fenn suggests that some circular or elliptical labyrinths in prehistoric engravings—those at Peña de Mogor, for example—should be interpreted as
diagrams of heaven, that is, as images of the apparent motions of the astral bodies. This notion is not opposed to the previous one: it is independent of it and, up to
a point, complementary, because the terrestrial maze, as a structure or a pattern,
is capable of reproducing the celestial, and because both allude to the same basic
idea—the loss of the spirit in the process of creation—that is, the ‘fall’ in the
neoplatonic sense—and the consequent need to seek out the way through the
‘Centre’, back to the spirit. There is an illustration in De Groene Leeuw, by
Goosse van Wreeswyk (Amsterdam, 1672), which depicts the sanctuary of the
alchemists’ lapis, encircled by the orbits of the planets, as walls, suggesting in this
way a cosmic labyrinth (32). The emblem of the labyrinth was widely used by mediaeval architects. To trace through the labyrinthic path of a mosaic patterned
on the ground was once considered a symbolic substitute for a pilgrimage to the
Holy Land (28). Some labyrinths shaped like a cross, known in Italy as ‘Solomon’s
knot’, and featured in Celtic, Germanic and Romanesque decoration, are a synthesis of the dual symbolism of the cross and the labyrinth; they are known, for this
reason, as the ‘emblem of divine inscrutability’. It is not difficult to make out, in
the centre of the pattern, the figure of the swastika, which adds to the basic
symbolism a suggestion of rotating, generating and unifying motion (4). For Diel,
the maze signifies the unconscious, and also error and remoteness from the fount
of life (15). Eliade notes that the essential mission of the maze was to defend the
‘Centre’—that it was, in fact, an initiation into sanctity, immortality and absolute
reality and, as such, equivalent to other ‘trials’ such as the fight with the dragon.
At the same time, the labyrinth may be interpreted as an apprenticeship for the
neophyte who would learn to distinguish the proper path leading to the Land of
the Dead (17).
To see or dream that you are in a labyrinth, indicates your desires to get to the center of some issue or problem. Alternatively, it suggests that you are feeling trapped in some situation. You feel lost and that there is no way out.
If you dream of a labyrinth, you will find yourself entangled in intricate and perplexing business conditions, and your wife will make the home environment intolerable; children and sweethearts will prove ill-tempered and unattractive.
If you are in a labyrinth of night or darkness, it foretells passing, but agonizing sickness and trouble.
A labyrinth of green vines and timbers, denotes unexpected happiness from what was seemingly a cause for loss and despair.
In a network, or labyrinth of railroads, assures you of long and tedious journeys. Interesting people will be met, but no financial success will aid you on these journeys.
Seeing a labyrinth in your dream means that you will be involved with my complicated situations where your domestic sphere will be quite intolerable. Dreaming that you are in a labyrinth of green vines and timber means an unexpected turn of happiness where despair and loss was anticipated. Dreaming that you are in a labyrinth of night or darkness indicates bitter trouble and sickness.
To see claws in your dream, signify feelings of vulnerability and/or hostility. You feel a need to defend or protect yourself or your surroundings. You also need to be careful with your words and actions.
To see people you know in your dream, signifies qualities and feelings of them that you desire for yourself. If these people are from your past, then the dream refers to your shadow and other unacknowledged aspects of yourself. It may represent a waking situation that is bringing out similar feelings from your past relationships.
To see people you don't know in your dream, denotes hidden aspects of yourself that you need to confront or acknowledge.

To dream that you have a fleshy, healthy side, you will be successful in courtship and business.
Every winged being is symbolic of spiritualization. The bird, according to Jung, is a beneficent animal representing spirits or angels, supernatural
aid (31), thoughts and flights of fancy (32). Hindu tradition has it that birds
represent the higher states of being. To quote a passage from the Upanishads:
Two birds, inseparable companions, inhabit the same tree; the first eats of the
fruit of the tree, the second regards it but does not eat. The first bird is Jivâtmâ,
and the second is Atmâ or pure knowledge, free and unconditioned; and when
they are joined inseparably, then the one is indistinguishable from the other except in an illusory sense’ (26). This interpretation of the bird as symbolic of
the soul is very commonly found in folklore all over the world. There is a Hindu
tale retold by Frazer in which an ogre explains to his daughter where he keeps
his soul: ‘Sixteen miles away from this place’, he says, ‘is a tree. Round the tree
are tigers, and bears, and scorpions, and snakes; on the top of the tree is a very
great fat snake; on his head is a little cage; in the cage is a bird; and my soul is in
that bird’ (21). This was given precise expression in ancient Egyptian symbolism by supplying the bird with a human head; in their system of hieroglyphs it
was a sign corresponding to the determinative Ba (the soul), or the idea that the
soul flies away from the body after death (19). This androcephalous bird appears also in Greek and Romanesque art, and always in this same sense (50).
But the idea of the soul as a bird—the reverse of the symbolic notion—does not
of itself imply that the soul is good. Hence the passage in Revelation (xvii, 2)
describing Babylon as ‘the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean
and hateful bird’. According to Loeffler, the bird, like the fish, was originally a
phallic symbol, endowed however with the power of heightening—suggesting
sublimation and spiritualization. In fairy stories there are many birds which
talk and sing, symbolizing amorous yearning (and cognate with arrows and
breezes). The bird may also stand for the metamorphosis of a lover. Loeffler
adds that birds are universally recognized as intelligent collaborators with man
in myths and folktales, and that they are derived from the great bird-demiurges
of the primitives—bearers of celestial messages and creators of the nether
world; this explains the further significance of birds as messengers (38). The
particular colour of a bird is a factor which determines its secondary symbolisms. The blue bird is regarded by Bachelard (3) as ‘the outcome of aerial
motion’, that is, as a pure association of ideas; but in our view, although this
may well have been its origin, its ultimate aim is something quite different—to
provide a symbol of the impossible (like the blue rose). In alchemy, birds stand
for forces in process of activation; here the precise sense is determined by the
location of the bird: soaring skywards it expresses volatilization or sublimation, and swooping earthwards it expresses precipitation and condensation;
these two symbolic movements joined to form a single figure are expressive of
distillation. Winged beings contrasted with others that are wingless constitute a
symbol of air, of the volatile principle as opposed to the fixed. Nevertheless, as
Diel has pointed out, birds, and particularly flocks of birds—for multiplicity is
ever a sign of the negative—may take on evil implications; for example, swarms
of insects symbolize forces in process of dissolution—forces which are teeming, restless, indeterminate, shattered. Thus, birds, in the Hercules legend, rising up from the lake Stymphalus (which stands for the stagnation of the soul
and the paralysis of the spirit) denote manifold wicked desires (15). The ‘giant
bird’ is always symbolic of a creative deity. The Hindus of Vedic times used to
depict the sun in the form of a huge bird—an eagle or a swan. Germanic tradition
affords further examples of a solar bird (35). It is also symbolic of storms; in
Scandinavian mythology there are references to a gigantic bird called Hraesvelg
(or Hraesveglur), which is supposed to create the wind by beating its wings
(35). In North America, the supreme Being is often equated with the mythic
personification of lightning and thunder as a great bird (17). The bird has a
formidable antagonist in the snake or serpent. According to Zimmer, it is only
in the West that this carries a moral implication; in India, the natural elements
only are contrasted—the solar force as opposed to the fluid energy of the
terrestrial oceans. The name of this solar bird is Garuda, the ‘slayer of the nâgas
or serpents’ (60). Kühn, in The Rock Pictures of Europe, considers a Lascaux
cave picture of a wounded bison, a man stricken to death and a bird on a pole,
and suggests that, by the late Palaeolithic, the bird may have come to symbolize
the soul or a trance-like state.
To see birds in your dream, symbolize your goals, aspirations and hopes. To dream of chirping and/or flying birds, represent joy, harmony, ecstasy, balance, and love. It denotes a sunny outlook in life. You are experiencing spiritual freedom and psychological liberation. It is almost as if a weight has been lifted off your shoulders.
To dream of dead or dying birds, indicates disappointments. You will find yourself worrying over problems that are nagging on your mind.
To see bird eggs in your dream, symbolize money.
To see birds hatching in your dream, symbolize delayed success.
To see a bird nest in your dream, symbolizes independence, refuge and security. You need something to fall back on. Alternatively, it may signify a prosperous endeavor, new opportunities, and fortune.

A symbol of individuality—of private thoughts. The windows symbolize the possibility of understanding and of passing through to the external and
the beyond, and are also an illustration of any idea of communication. Hence, a
closed room lacking windows may be symbolic of virginity, according to Frazer,
and also of other kinds of non-communication. Many rites involving the
enclosureimage are performed to mark the reaching of puberty, all over the world.
The legend about Danae, shut up by her father in a bronze tower, pertains to this
particular symbolism. There is a Siberian legend concerning a ‘dark house of iron’
which is also relevant to it (21). We might also mention the ‘vase with a lid’, one
of the eight emblems of good luck in Chinese Buddhism, and a symbol of wholeness, of the idea with no ‘exit’, or, in other words, of supreme intelligence triumphant over birth and death (signified respectively by the doors and windows of
the room) (5). This explains why the hermetically sealed room may possibly be
a variant form of the ‘vase with a lid’.
To dream that you are in a room, represents a particular aspect of yourself or a specific relationship. Dreams about various rooms often relate to hidden areas of the conscious mind and different aspects of your personality. If the room is welcoming or comfortable, then it signifies opulence and satisfaction in life. If you see a dark or confined room, then it denotes that you feel trapped or repressed in a situation.
To dream that you find or discover a new room, suggests that you are developing new strengths and taking on new roles. You may be growing emotionally. Consider what you find in the discovered room as it may indicate repressed memories, fears, or rejected emotions. Alternatively, such rooms are symbolic of neglected skills or rejected potential.
To dream that you are in an empty white room, indicates a fresh start. It is like a blank canvas where you want to start life anew. Alternatively, the dream means that you are trying to isolate yourself. You do not want any outside influences.
To dream of a yellow room, suggests that you need to use your mind. You are feeling stimulated mentally.

Seeing an appealing or comfortable room in your dream means opulence and satisfaction in life. Seeing a dark, eerie or confining room indicates that that you feel trapped or repressed in a situation.
To dream of the past, suggests that a current waking situation is paralleling a past situation. You need to learn from the past and not make the same mistake again. Alternatively, the dream may represent unresolved issues from the past. Or that you need to stop living in the past and look forward toward the future.
To see or sit on a pew in your dream, suggests that you need to stop and reflect on your past mistakes or issues before you can move forward. You need to question the decisions and choices that you are making. Perhaps it is time to acknowledge your former wrongdoings.
To see the outside of the church in your dream, signifies sacredness and spiritual nourishment. It is representative of your value system and the things you hold sacred.
To dream that you are inside a church, suggests that you are seeking for spiritual enlightenment and guidance. You are looking to be uplifted in some way. Perhaps you have made some past mistakes which have set you back on your path toward your goals. With proper support, you will get on the right track again. Alternatively, the dream may also mean that you are questioning and debating your life path and where it is leading. You are reevaluating what you want to do.
To dream of seeing a church in the distance, denotes disappointment in pleasures long anticipated.
To enter one wrapt in gloom, you will participate in a funeral.
Dull prospects of better times are portended.

Dreaming about being in a church is more common than most people realise. This may be so due to the fact that most of us went to church as children. From a very early age we had to go to church and were taught that there was a God. This was important in our life and to our families. Dreaming about churches, cathedrals, synagogues, or any other place of worship may represent our childhood associations with religion. At times, the dream may be a muddled childhood memory. The church could represent a need for greater spirituality in the dreamer's life. It may express religious beliefs, everyday occurrences, issues of safety, security and strength through community and religious expression. None of us can escape the age-old questions, "Who am I?" and, "What is the meaning of life?". Coping with our own physical mortality is a very big deal. Both our conscious, and unconscious minds are continually working and bringing issues of relevance and concern into our awareness. If you dream that you are praying in a church, you could be in need of comfort. Think about the details of your dream and make an attempt to honestly understand its meaning.
