I was driving home from work. As I thought of different places I would rather be, I'd suddenly shift to that very scene. If I thought of food, I would appear in front of a grocery store. I thought of a particular street and I was there. Eventually I got lost and decided to fly above the streets instead, only coming down closer to see if I knew where I was. I never did. As time went on it got darker, colder, and I could feel the wind. Soon I got upset that I couldn't really control what was happening, and I realized when I moved my left hand, I could still feel it clenched around the steering wheel. I was asleep! I told myself "WAKE UP, WAKE UP!", and I did, but only to another level of dreaming.
In this, I woke up in the parking lot of an apartment complex in some inner city hell hole. My face was resting on the steering wheel and I was still holding on with my left hand. It was dark. As I got out of the car, my grandmother came down the stairs dragging my red suitcase, saying she was giving it away. I got pissed and took it back. As we were going in, some derelict stumbled into the lot, I ushered my grandma inside quickly. At this point, I missed that my boyfriend was not there, that he wouldn't be there anymore. It was a small apartment. We got inside and the place was a mess, my grandmother apologized that it was all we could afford (1 BD/ $1,300/ mo). I lived there with only her and my mother.

If he dreams this often it is a sign of increasing prosperity and the fulfilment of desires. If the trees appear barren or dead, there will be obstacles to combat in obtaining desires. He will get along, but his work will bring small results.
For a woman to dream of flying from one city to another, and alighting on church spires, foretells she will have much to contend against in the way of false persuasions and declarations of love. She will be threatened with a disastrous season of ill health, and the death of some one near to her may follow.

If you dream that an older sibling is teaching you how to do something, you may be hoping that you will receive assistance with something from someone else in your waking life.
A family can also represent security and community.
The meaning of a dream about family will largely depend upon your personal experiences with your own family members.
Mother-symbols are characterized by an interesting ambivalence:
the mother sometimes appears as the image of nature, and vice-versa; but the
Terrible Mother is a figure signifying death (31). For this reason, Hermetic doctrine held that to ‘return to the mother’ was equivalent to dying. For the Egyptians, the vulture was a mother-symbol, probably because it devours corpses
(19); it also stood for the means whereby Hammamit (the universal soul) was
split up into separate parts to form individual souls (19). For the same reason, the
maternal sentiment has been said to be closely bound up with the nostalgic
longing of the spirit for things material (18), or with the subjection of the spirit to
the unformulated but implacable law of destiny. Jung mentions that in Jean
Thenaud’s Traité de la Cabale (of the 16th century) there is a mother-figure
actually represented in the form of a god of destiny (32). He mentions further that
the Terrible Mother is the counterpart of the Pietà, representing not only death
but also the cruel side of nature—its indifference towards human suffering (31).
Jung also notes that the mother is symbolic of the collective unconscious, of the
left and nocturnal side of existence—the source of the Water of Life. It is the
mother, he argues, who is the first to bear that image of the anima which the man
must project upon Woman passing from the mother to the sister and finally to the
beloved (32). A predominantly maternal social pattern—a matriarchal society—
is characterized, according to Bachofen, by special emphasis upon blood relationships, telluric allegiances, and the passive acceptance of natural phenomena.
Patriarchies are distinguished by a respect for man-made laws, the favouring of
works of art and craft, and obedience to the hierarchy (23). Even now that
matriarchal societies, sociologically speaking, no longer exist in the West, psychologically man is nevertheless passing through a phase when he is in all essentials dominated by the feminine principle. To come triumphantly through this
stage and to reinstate the masculine principle as the guiding-rule of life—bringing
to the fore the characteristically patriarchal qualities noted above—would signify
an achievement of the kind that was once symbolized by the transformation of
the ‘lunar work’ into the solar, or by the transmutation of mercury into sulphur.
To quote Evola: ‘Symbols of the earth-mother are: water, the mother of the waters, stone, the cave, the maternal home, night, the house of depth, and the
house of strength or of wisdom.’
To see your mother in your dream, represents the nurturing aspect of your own character. Mothers offer shelter, comfort, life, guidance and protection. Some people may have problems freeing themselves from their mothers and are thus seeking their own individuality and development.
To dream that you are having a conversation with your mother, denotes a matter that has preoccupied your mind and you are not sure how to deal with it in your waking life. It indicates unresolved problems that need to be worked out with your mother.
To hear your mother call you in our dream, suggests that you have been negligent in your duties and responsibilities. You are pursuing down the wrong path.
If you dream that you see your mother and converse with her, it indicates that you
will have prosperity in life. To dream that you have lost your mother indicates her sickness.
To see your mother in dreams as she appears in the home, signifies pleasing results from any enterprise.
To hold her in conversation, you will soon have good news from interests you are anxious over.
For a woman to dream of mother, signifies pleasant duties and connubial bliss.
To see one's mother emaciated or dead, foretells sadness caused by death or dishonor.
To hear your mother call you, denotes that you are derelict in your duties, and that you are pursuing the wrong course in business.
To hear her cry as if in pain, omens her illness, or some affliction is menacing you.

The relationship that we have with our mother is the most psychologically significant relationship of all. Rarely all good or all bad, our mothers always invoke powerful emotions. We may dream about our mothers in many different forms. She may be disguised in our dreams, and it is our job to find her in there. If you are dreaming about your mother, you may be addressing some issues or concerns in your dream, or your dream may be based on a valuable memory. The general image of "mother" in a dream may symbolise a variety of feelings and ideas: caring, nurturing, love, acceptance, hard work, sacrifice, martyrdom, etc. The mother in your dream could also represent the "collective unconscious," the source of the "water of life," and the yin. The woman is that force, or current, inside of you that nudges you on and inspires you. It is your intuition and the knowledge that in not necessarily attached to words. Men, on the other hand, represent the active part of us that use the information received to create the physical reality of our lives. When the two are working together well, we have balance and experience awareness leading to peace and productivity.
Equated with matter, with the maternal and germinant, but it preexists the differentiation of matter (9). The dualism of light/darkness does not
arise as a symbolic formula of morality until primordial darkness has been split
up into light and dark. Hence, the pure concept of darkness is not, in symbolic
tradition, identified with gloom—on the contrary, it corresponds to primigenial
chaos. It is also related to mystic nothingness, and, in consequence, Hermetic language is an obscurum per obscurius, a path leading back to the profound
mystery of the Origin. According to Guénon, light is the basic principle behind
differentiation and hierarchical order. The gloom which preceded the Fiat Lux
always, in traditional symbolism, represents the state of undeveloped potentialities which give rise to chaos (29). Hence, the darkness introduced into the world,
after the advent of light, is regressive; hence, too, the fact that it is traditionally
associated with the principle of evil and with the base, unsublimated forces.
To dream that darkness comes upon you, signifies failure in some work that you are attempting. Darkness is synonymous with ignorance, the unconscious, evil, death, and fear of the unknown. If the sun breaks through the darkness, then you will overcome your failures. If you feel safe in the dark, then it suggests that you like not knowing about certain things. As some might say, ignorance is bliss.
To dream that you cannot find someone in the darkness, signifies that you need to keep your temper in check. You have the tendency to let your emotions get out of control and lose your temper.
To dream that you are lost in the darkness, denotes feelings of desperation, depression, or insecurity.
To dream that you are groping around in the darkness, indicates that you have insufficient information to make a clear decision. Do your research and do not rush into making choices.

Night is related to the passive principle, the feminine and the unconscious. Hesiod gave it the name of ‘mother of the gods’, for the Greeks believed
that night and darkness preceded the creation of all things (8). Hence, night—like
water—is expressive of fertility, potentiality and germination (17); for it is an
anticipatory state in that, though not yet day, it is the promise of daylight. Within
the tradition of symbology it has the same significance as death and the colour
To have a dream that takes place at night, represents some major setbacks and obstacles in achieving your goals. You are being faced with an issue that is not so clear cut. Perhaps, you should put the issues aside so you can clear your head and come back to it later. Alternatively, night may be synonymous with death, rebirth, reflection, and new beginnings.
If you are surrounded by night in your dreams, you may expect unusual oppression and hardships in business. If the night seems to be vanishing, conditions which hitherto seemed unfavorable will now grow bright, and affairs will assume prosperous phases.
Dreaming of night means some major setbacks and obstacles in achieving your goals. You may find that some issues you are facing are not all that clear and you need to put them to rest for awhile before a decision is made.
In Bachelard’s opinion, supported by literary analysis, cold corresponds symbolically to being in the situation of, or longing for, solitude or exaltation. Nietzsche, in his Human, All Too Human, makes a call for ‘the cold, wild
Alpine lands scarce warmed by the Autumn sun and loveless’. ‘Thanks to the
cold, the air gains in attacking virtues, it becomes spiritualized and dehumanized.
In the frozen atmosphere, at higher altitudes, one finds another Nietzschean
quality: silence’ (1).
To dream that you are cold, indicates that you are experiencing a breakthrough in some area in your life. Alternatively, you may be feeling isolated or emotionally restrained. Your sense of coldness could reflect your feelings about a lover or a certain person. The dream may also occur as a result of your immediate environment in which you are really feeling cold.
To see the word cold in your dream, suggests that you need to be more neutral or objective in your decision making. You need to remain emotionally detached.
To dream that you touch something cold, suggests that you should avoid that object or what that object represents in your waking life.
To dream of suffering from cold, you are warned to look well to your affairs.
There are enemies at work to destroy you. Your health is also menaced.

The wind is air in its active and violent aspects, and is held to be the
primary Element by virtue of its connexion with the creative breath or exhalation.
Jung recalls that in Arabic (and paralleled by the Hebrew) the word ruh signifies
both ‘breath’ and ‘spirit’ (31). At the height of its activity, the wind gives rise to
the hurricane (a synthesis and ‘conjunction’ of the four Elements), which is
credited with the power of fecundation and regeneration. It was taken up in this
sense by the alchemists, as can be seen for example in Jamsthaler’s Viatorium
Spagyricum (Frankfort, 1625) (31). The winds were numbered and brought into
correspondence with the cardinal points and the signs of the Zodiac, so as to bring
out their cosmic significance. In Egypt and Greece the wind was reckoned to
possess certain evil powers; but for the Greeks, this menacing implication, which
they associated with Typhon, was reversed from that moment when the fleet of
Xerxes was destroyed by a tempest (41).
To dream of the wind blowing softly and sadly upon you, signifies that great fortune will come to you through bereavement.
If you hear the wind soughing, denotes that you will wander in estrangement from one whose life is empty without you.
To walk briskly against a brisk wind, foretells that you will courageously resist temptation and pursue fortune with a determination not easily put aside. For the wind to blow you along against your wishes, portends failure in business undertakings and disappointments in love. If the wind blows you in the direction you wish to go you will find unexpected and helpful allies, or that you have natural advantages over a rival or competitor.
To dream that the wind is blowing, symbolizes your life force, energy, and vigor. It reflects changes in your life. Alternatively, the dream suggests that you need to pick up your pace and work on achieving your goals more quickly and efficiently.
To dream of strong or gusty winds, represent turmoil and trouble in your life. You are experiencing much stress in some waking situation.

The wind in your dream could be symbolic of your own spirit or the life force. The wind may represent changes in your life. The amount of force behind the wind could indicate the amount of change. A very gusty wind could represent stress and turmoil but also the energy that you need or have to make changes. The sound of the wind and the movement of objects around you are probably what alert you to the wind in the dream, rather than a sensation of wind on your skin. The sound of the wind is considered by some to be special because it is a sound of nature and has spiritual significance.
When the spirit travels outside the body to either the astral plane or another location on this plane. This is also referred to as an “Out of Body Experience”
In the Egyptian tongue, the term designating the hand was related to
that for the pillar (or a support, or strength) and for the palm (4). In esoteric
doctrine, the position of the hand in relation to the body, and the arrangement of
the fingers, convey certain precise symbolic notions (48). According to the Egyptian system of hieroglyphs, the hand signifies manifestation, action, donating and
husbandry. An eye in association with a hand—as for example in some oriental
mythic beings—symbolize ‘clairvoyant action’ (19). Schneider concedes a major
rôle to the hand ‘because it is the corporeal manifestation of the inner state of the
human being’ and because ‘it expresses an attitude of mind in terms other than the
acoustic’—or, in other words, a gesture. It follows, then, that the raised hand is
the symbol of the voice and of song; the hand placed on the breast indicates the
attitude of the sage; placed on the neck it denotes sacrifice; two hands joined
signifies mystic marriage—the Jungian individuation; the hand covering the eyes
represents clairvoyance at the moment of death (50). Of great importance is the
fact that the hand has five fingers, firstly, because of its broad analogy with the
human figure (composed of four extremities plus the head), and, secondly, by
reason of the symbolism of the number five (denoting love, health and humanity)
(40). In Egyptian hieroglyphics, the open hand signifies any specificially human
task as well as magnetic force (19)—an idea also characteristic of pre-Columbian
America. And a very similar belief lies behind the widespread use of the hand as
an amulet in Islamic cultures. According to Berber thought, the hand signifies
protection, authority, power and strength; the manus had the same meaning for
the Romans, symbolizing in particular the authority of the pater familias and of
the emperor, and is sometimes to be seen surmounting the signum of the legions
in place of the imperial eagle. In the Islamic amulets mentioned above, the figure
of the hand undergoes various modifications or appears in association with other
symbols, as, for instance, the star, the dove, the bird, the fan, the zigzag and the
circle, forming emblems comparable with those of the Christian West (12). The
familiar emblem of the ‘linked hands’ is expressive of a virile fraternity, or solidarity in the face of danger (49). In Jung’s opinion, the hand is endowed with a generative significance (31). The difference between the right hand and the left is
usually ignored, but when the distinction is made it appears merely to serve the
purpose of enriching the basic significance with the additional implications of
space-symbolism, the right side corresponding to the rational, the conscious, the
logical and the virile; the left side representing the converse (33). There are alchemic images which represent a King clasping in his own left hand the left hand
of the Queen. Jung suggests that this may refer to the unconscious character of
their union but that it may also be indicative either of affection or of suspicion
To dream of your hands, represent your relationships with those around you and how you connect with the world. Hands serve as a form of communication and can represent authority, hate, protection, justice, etc depending on the gesture. Perhaps you need to lend a helping hand to someone. In particular, the left hand symbolizes your graciousness and your feminine, receptive qualities, while the right hand symbolizes the masculine and active attributes. The right hand may also be a pun for some decision or something being "right". If you dream that your hands are detached or see disembodied hands, then it indicates that you are not getting your point of view across. You are not being understood. The dream may also symbolize feelings of loneliness.
To dream that you are holding hands with someone, represents love, affection and your connection with that person. Your dream may also reflect anxieties about losing touch with him/her or that you are drifting apart.
To dream that you hands are injured, denote an attack on your ego.

To dream that you have unusually large hands, denote success in achieving your goals.
To dream that your hands are hairy or rough, imply your lack of gentleness in dealing with others. You may be too brash and abrasive.
To see blood on your hands, signifies that you are experiencing some sort of guilt.
To dream that you are washing your hands, represent a worrisome issue that you need to work through. Alternatively, it suggests that you are in denial or no longer taking responsibility of some matter. You are letting go and getting things out of your system.
To dream that your hands are itchy, indicate issues with money. If the left hand is itchy, then it signifies money being received. If the right hand or both hands are itchy, then it signifies money being given or lost.
If you see beautiful hands in your dream, you will enjoy great distinction, and rise rapidly in your calling; but ugly and malformed hands point to disappointments and poverty. To see blood on them, denotes estrangement and unjust censure from members of your family.
If you have an injured hand, some person will succeed to what you are striving most to obtain.
To see a detached hand, indicates a solitary life, that is, people will fail to understand your views and feelings. To burn your hands, you will overreach the bounds of reason in your struggles for wealth and fame, and lose thereby.
To see your hands covered with hair, denotes that you will not become a solid and leading factor in your circle.
To see your hands enlarged, denotes a quick advancement in your affairs.
To see them smaller, the reverse is predicted.
To see your hands soiled, denotes that you will be envious and unjust to others.
To wash your hands, you will participate in some joyous festivity.
For a woman to admire her own hands, is proof that she will win and hold the sincere regard of the man she prizes above all others.
To admire the hands of others, she will be subjected to the whims of a jealous man. To have a man hold her hands, she will be enticed into illicit engagements. If she lets others kiss her hands, she will have gossips busy with her reputation. To handle fire without burning her hands, she will rise to high rank and commanding positions.
To dream that your hands are tied, denotes that you will be involved in difficulties. In loosening them, you will force others to submit to your dictations.

Dreams of the astral, denote that your efforts and plans will culminate in worldly success and distinction. A spectre or picture of your astral self brings heart-rending tribulation.
To dream of the direction left, symbolizes the unconscious and your repressed thoughts/emotions. It is an indication of passivity.

This is a symbol, wide in scope, much used in the ornamental arts and
in architecture, complex and enclosing several layers of meaning. Some of the
disagreement about its symbolic sense may be due to confusion of the disk
(which is immobile) with the wheel (which rotates). There is, however, no objection to the fusion of the two symbols with a view to reconciling the two ideas of
the disk and the wheel. One of the elementary forms of wheel-symbolism consists of the sun as a wheel, and of ornamental wheels as solar emblems (14). As
Krappe has pointed out, the concept of the sun as a wheel was one of the most
widespread notions of antiquity. The idea of the sun as a two-wheeled chariot is
only at one remove from this. These same ideas can be found among the Aryans
and also among the Semites (35). Given the symbolic significance of the sun as a
source of light (standing for intelligence) and of spiritual illumination, it is easy to
understand why the Buddhist doctrine of the solar wheel has been so widely
admired (31). ‘Catherine-wheels’, and the ‘wheel of fire’ rolled down the hillside
in popular festivals of the summer-solstice; and the mediaeval processions in
which wheels were mounted on boats or carts, as well as the torture-on-thewheel; and such traditions as the ‘Wheel of Fortune’ or the ‘Wheel of the Year’, all
point to a deeply rooted solar or zodiacal symbolism. The function of the wheelof-fire was, in essence, to ‘stimulate’ the sun in its activity and to ward off winter
and death (17). It is, therefore, a symbolic synthesis of the activity of cosmic
forces and the passage of time (57). There is, it must be admitted, a discrepancy
between the interpretation of those who see the wheel particularly as a solar
symbol, and those who relate it to the symbolism of the pole (although basically
both allude to the mystery of the rotational tendency of all cyclic processes). The
swastika, being an intermediate sign between the cross and the wheel, is similarly
regarded by some as a solar and by others as a polar sign. Guénon tends towards
the latter hypothesis (28). But, in any case, the allusion is, in the last resort, to the splitting up of the world-order into two essentially different factors: rotary
movement and immobility—or the perimeter of the wheel and its still centre, an
image of the Aristotelian ‘unmoved mover’. This becomes an obsessive theme in
mythic thinking, and in alchemy it takes the form of the contrast between the
volatile (moving and therefore transitory) and the fixed. The dual structure of the
wheel is usually indicated by characteristic patterns which tend to confine geometric ornamentation—either stylized or figurative—to the periphery, while the
round, empty space in the middle is either left vacant, or a single symbol is
inscribed therein—a triangle, for instance, or a sacred figure. Guénon notes that
the Celtic wheel-symbol persisted into the Middle Ages, and adds that the ornamental oculi of Romanesque churches and the rose-windows of Gothic architecture are versions of this wheel. He also shows that there is an indubitable connexion
between the wheel and such emblematic flowers as the rose (in the West) and the
lotus (in the East) (28)—in other words, figures patterned after the mandala. The
rim of the wheel is divided into sectors illustrating phases in the passage of time.
In alchemy, there are numerous symbolic representations of the wheel, denoting
the circulatory process: the ascending period is shown on one side, the descending on the other. These alchemic stages are also represented as birds soaring
heavenwards or swooping down to earth, denoting sublimation and condensation, in turn corresponding to evolution and involution, or spiritual progress and
regression (32). The ‘Wheel of Law, Truth and Life’ is one of the eight emblems
of good luck in Chinese Buddhism. It illustrates the way of escape from the
illusory world (of rotation) and from illusions, and the way towards the ‘Centre’
(5). The wheel which is divided up into sectors by radii drawn from its outer
perimeter to the circumference of an inner circle, is a graphic symbol sometimes
seen in water-marks of mediaeval times over a plant-stem located between the
horns of an ox (symbolizing sacrifice); Bayley opines that this wheel represents
the ‘communion of saints’, or the reunion of the faithful in the mystic Centre (4).
René Guénon says, in relation to Taoist doctrine, that the chosen one, the sage,
invisible at the centre of the wheel, moves it without himself participating in the
movement and without having to bestir himself in any way. He quotes, among
others, the following Taoist passages: ‘The sage is he who has attained the central
point of the Wheel and remains bound to the “Unvarying Mean”, in indissoluble
union with the Origin, partaking of its immutability and imitating its non-acting
activity’; ‘He who has reached the highest degree of emptiness, will be secure in
repose. To return to the root is to enter into the state of repose’, that is, to throw
off the bonds of things transitory and contingent (25).
