I was at the bottom of the ocean,

I was at the bottom of the ocean, holding the perspective of two whales. One was giant and fully grown, and it was the mother/father (both) to the other one, who was an extremely tiny baby whale, literally the size of the top section of my pinky. The mom (dominantly motherly with some fatherly energy, which was why she is both mother and father) had created a dome shaped force field so that they could breathe. The baby somehow got outside of the force field. There were other creatures, 2 dark ones, that were circling the force field. They had no interest in hurting the baby that I can see, but the main panic was in the fact that the baby couldn't get back in. It wasn't panic though, just urgency. So the mom broke the force field and took the baby in her mouth, taking its tail in between her teeth (though whales don't have teeth) and said "here we go" or something along those lines. Then at crazy speed they rose to the top.

--Whales are all about emotional depths. They deal with the deep emotions we can barely make audible. They are the navigators of the depths of the ocean.
At the bottom of my own ocean, I had contained mine within a force field and now they are coming to the surface, which I'm glad about because the sooner I identify them the sooner I can deal with them and accept them and then let them be and move on.
This totem also touches on sensisitvity and perception. My perception has been clouded by fear lately, and because of that I'm getting rid of a few things.
They are also about communication. Mine has also been clouded lately, very much so. The things I'm getting rid of will hopefully help with that too.
They are also about conservation of energy, which I just don't know how to do at all.
Nurturing devotion to community is important as well as balance and finding beauty in things.

So this event transferred smoothly into another dream. My dog was dying. I wasn't extremely sad but I was extremely emotional and just involved with the whole situation. There was some sort of field trip about to happen with me and many of my male friends/ acquaintences. It was terribly unimportant to me. My dog is very old and I've had her since I was in first grade. I don't get to see her much since I go to college.
Anyway, she was dying and there were moments when she wasn't a dog but another furry creature reminiscent to a monsters inc. character. I kept putting my face by hers and she would lick it alot, and I would pet her head. She was wrapped up in a blanket. When I had woken up that morning, in the dream, I knew she was dying so I put her in that blanket.
So she did die, and my mom didn't believe me at first. Her and my dad wanted to go somewhere but this had foiled our plans. I remember crying but I don't remember feeling sad, it was all very transcendent. So I had this weird wooden cart with pedals on the side that I used as a bike because I didn't have one. I rode around a town that looked similar to the one I go to college in. I remember thinking about the interstate and riding on it but I don't remember doing so. I also remember going to this place where there was something like a kmart and a restaraunt or something...and there were two men discussing something in a grungy yet jolly manner in a van, which actually reminds me exactly of another dream I had once.

The dog symbolizes faithfulness and protection. Perhaps the things I once needed to be protected by are now things I can handle on my own. I've always been very connected with my dog because I find it easy to connect with animals. I think this is also reflecting on my growth for compassion of human shortcomings. Dogs are immensely good at boosting spirits, too, which I needed. But death means rebirth, especially in this dream. That doesn't happen overnnight though...so I will most likely be experiencing a period of grace, darkness and stillness, all while the whale energy is shifting my innards too.
It's going to be an interesting thing.
