Last week - most likely Wednesday night, Jan 18 2012 - I dreamed a vivid dream, that seems to me more vivid now.
I was in a swampy area, sunny and quite beautiful, with many trees growing up out of the water. It wasn't a dark dank messy type of swamp, it was pristine. I was near the edge of the forested area and could see beyond the trees to a large body of water.
In my first writing of this dream I was perplexed whether to call this water a river or a lake, it had qualities of both, but the water was still like a lake. I think I intuited that somewhere was flow, but where I was it was still.
I had the distinct feeling of being in another country. One that was tropical and that had nature and cultural areas that were distinctly not modern... yet a mix, like places in Asia or South America.
I was in a small crude traditional boat with a guide. He was all but naked and his thin dark body was tan and told of being outdoors and in touch with nature.
I was supposed to get into this other strange boat from his and it presented a bit of a challenge. The boats were made in two distinct parts. They were about 12 feel long and roughly the shape of a narrow canoe. The upper part however was built much more sturdy than a canoe and looked more like the construction of old mediteranian fishing boats. There was a deep 'keel' portion attached to the underside and this, as narrow as it was formed the main hull. This keel was much narrower than the top of the boat and yet I was expected to stand in this. Boarding the boat was made difficult due to this keel/hull's depth. This part also made of wood floated and therefore made the boat float on it's side until someone was aboard to give it ballast.
So I finally made this strange sideways maneuver from his boat into the empty one, by sticking one of my legs sidways into this boat and gradually shifting my weight - plunging this keel section under water. It was an act of graceful balance, but finally I was fully aboard. The boats were used standing up, but due to the depth of this keel it put the waterline at about my waist. I could imagine from afar these looked like normal little boats with us sitting in them, but that was not the case at all.
We used poles or at least one pole like paddle to navigate and we drifted slowly between the sinewy trees growing from the water. We entered a tangle that appeared to have a passage in it.
Suddenly I found myself paddling through a store. It was an interior design type store as modern as any you would see in a large city. The water did not seem to be damaging the store at all. It seemed that this was just the normal way this store was built. I came to an area and looked at clocks on a wall. To the left and behind me was a staircase... so I guess the second floor was walk-able but the ground floor was only water.
The day after this dream I was speaking with a friend - J,- we were discussing the ability to track commonalities in dreamtrends as a predictive tool and he mentioned to me told me that two of his friends had had tsunami or flood dreams the same day before. My dream was so peaceful, that I had never interpreted it that way. But in retrospect the trees growing from the water and the store with the deep water floor could suggest a flood.
Where ever I was, if it had been flooded... had adapted and accepted the water very gracefully.
I wrote this dream in detail last week the morning I dreamed it. But due to my computer battery running out, I lost it because I had not hit Post yet. I will now post more often regardless of how complete it is.
