Invited to play someones house party which is set up so that I am inside and everyone else is outside. I have an embarrassing moment where I forget who the hosts are and don't recognize them when they come to me. One after the next everything goes wrong and the whole set is figuring out how the set up works which is spread all over the place. First I try to dj with CD's. My collection suddenly is filled with random shitty music I haven't seen before. I try then to use my laptop but for some reason I have to look at a screen that is outside the building in order to view. I try to get help from someone but they're immersed in eating bbq salmon which are displayed right before me making me hungry and distracted. I am unable to listen to the mix properly through the headphones too. I throw on a mix CD in desperation- the dance floor has cleared by now - and notice people filling it again. Each time a track finishes I realize it too late and am still trying to find the next thing to play. Finally someone says its time to go and they need to take their gear. Someone mentions that they noticed I had no cross-fader. I look to the dance floor and everyone's left. I'm just glad it's over and feel the first feeling of peace. I look at the city skyline and then the contrasting treeline on the hill where I see people's shadows in the trees climbing.
