I was standing on a hilltop. It was reminiscent of Sound of Music. Rolling beautiful hills and mountains, green grass, little white flowers. There were sheep and lambs hopping about, munching on grass, and generally being the cutest things ever. I was sitting and watching them with joy in my heart.
A little lamb walked up to me and we looked at each other for a moment. Then my boyfriend walked over and said to me, "Don't worry. This is the natural order of things." He took the little lamb in his arms and gently petted it. Then he took out what seemed like a taser gun and attached the stun piece to the lamb's chest. He pressed the trigger and the gun shot something like a dart into the lamb's heart.
I felt it. The lamb began to cry. It wasn't screaming like it was scared. It was crying because it knew it was dying and it wanted to live. The sound of its crying really tore apart my heart and I wished so badly that I could take away its suffering. So I did. I don't know how, but I breathed in and totally took all of the suffering, fear, and pain into myself. My boyfriend let the lamb go and I fell backwards.
I woke up sobbing. I don't think I can eat meat anymore.
The origins of the symbolism of the lamb are to be found in the Book
of Enoch (32). It signifies purity, innocence, meekness (as well as unwarranted
sacrifice). In allegories, it lies at the root of representations of either pure thought,
or a just man, or the Lamb of God (4). Pinedo, however, points to the interesting
relationship between the lamb and the lion, by inversion of their respective
symbolic meanings. Examples of this are common in Christian symbolism, especially during the Romanesque period; a good instance is that of a tympanum in the
church at Armentia, where the Agnus Dei is shown inside a circle (symbolizing
the All, or perfection) accompanied by the epigraph: ‘Mors ego sum mortis.
Vocor Agnus, sum Leo fortis’ (I am the death of death. I am called a lamb, I am a
strong lion) (46) (Plate XX). Its etymology suggests other symbolic meanings:
Alleau, in De la Nature des symboles (Paris, 1958), proposes that agnus is related
to the Greek agnos and therefore symbolizes the unknown; and that it is also
related to agni (fire) and so is a sacrificial symbol of the periodic renovation of the
world.
To see a lamb in your dream, symbolizes deception. The lamb is also representative of something vulnerable, pure and innocent. Consider the metaphor "as gentle as a lamb".
To dream that you are holding a lamb in your arms, refers to the sacrifices in your life.
To dream of lambs frolicing{sic} in green pastures, betokens chaste friendships and joys. Bounteous and profitable crops to the farmers, and increase of possessions for others.
To see a dead lamb, signifies sadness and desolation.
Blood showing on the white fleece of a lamb, denotes that innocent ones will suffer from betrayal through the wrong doing of others.
A lost lamb, denotes that wayward people will be under your influence, and you should be careful of your conduct.
To see lamb skins, denotes comfort and pleasure usurped from others.
To slaughter a lamb for domestic uses, prosperity will be gained through the sacrifice of pleasure and contentment.
To eat lamb chops, denotes illness, and much anxiety over the welfare of children.

To shear lambs, shows that you will be cold and mercenary.
You will be honest, but inhumane.
For a woman to dream that she is peeling the skin from a lamb, and while doing so, she discovers that it is her child, denotes that she will cause others sorrow which will also rebound to her grief and loss.
``Fair prototype of innocence,
Sleep upon thy emerald bed,
No coming evil vents
A shade above thy head.''

The lamb in your dream could have negative or positive connotations and it could reflect some of your personal characteristics or attributes. On the positive end, the lamb symbolises gentleness, warmth, love, innocence, and for the spiritually-minded, the Lamb of God. More negative interpretations of this dream symbol would be that the lamb in your dream is a "sacrificial" lamb, or "lamb going to the slaughter".
In the vertical scheme of the human body, the focal points are three in
number: the brain, the heart and the sexual organs. But the central point is the
heart, and in consequence it comes to partake of the meanings of the other two.
The heart was the only part of the viscera left by the Egyptians in the mummy,
since it was regarded as the centre indispensable to the body in eternity; for all
centres are symbols of eternity, since time is the motion of the periphery of the
wheel of phenomena rotating around the Aristotelian ‘unmoved mover’. In traditional ways of thought, the heart was taken as the true seat of intelligence, the
brain being merely instrumental (25); hence, in ancient attempts to explain the
profound and continuing analogies between concepts, the moon was said to
correspond to the brain and the sun to the heart. All representations of the
‘Centre’ have been related in some way to the heart, either through correspondences or through substitution, as in the case of the goblet, the coffer and the
cavern. For the alchemists, the heart was the image of the sun within man, just as
gold was the image of the sun on earth (32). The importance of love in the mystic
doctrine of unity explains how it is that love-symbolism came to be closely linked
with heart-symbolism, for to love is only to experience a force which urges the
lover towards a given centre. In emblems, then, the heart signifies love as the
centre of illumination and happiness, and this is why it is surmounted by flames,
or a cross, or a fleur-de-lis, or a crown (4).

In India, the sound of Krishna’s flute is the magical cause of the birth
of the world. The pre-Hellenic maternal goddesses are depicted holding lyres, and
with the same significance (56). There are other traditional doctrines which hold
that sound was the first of all things to be created, and that which gave rise to all
others, commencing with light, or, alternatively, with air and fire. An instance of
this is the lament quoted in the Poimandres of Hermes Trismegistos (31).

On the other hand, you could be experiencing the tears of joy. Due to repression or denial, sometimes people are unable to express their feelings. In the dream state some of our defence mechanisms may relax and an emotional release occurs. Some emotional dreams may be compensatory in nature. Thus, if you never cry in daily life, you may cry in your dreams.
