I have an occasionally recurring dream where I'm walking along and come to an area of sharp pointed stones that I have to walk on in my bare feet having left my shoes behind for whatever reason or forgotten them.
Sometimes this is a river that I can only cross by walking on the stones and I sometimes get halfway before coming out of my dream, but other times it's an open area near a meadow which is suddenly truncated though I sometimes see a forest or meadow or even an urban area on the other side.
I'm not usually sure of how I got into such a situation but I do sense that my home or perhaps more like my temporary place of residence is on the other side of the river or break in the meadow.
I don't always make the attempt to walk on them but when I do, I clearly feel the pangs in the soles of my feet which is more like the feeling of fishing line being pulled tightly across the bottom of my feet I'd say.
I've had this dream on and off for a number of years, but not that often during a particular time. I wouldn't call this a nightmare as there's a strange pain but no fear, worry, or dread. Occasionally this recurring situation is part of a much longer dream, sometimes in the middle where I either get past it or the plot changes.
