Flight To The Midnight Dream Theater

On the bus from Cairo to Taba trying to make sense of this dream that was so powerful it woke me up with such a start it took over half an hour to settle back into sleep. It was vivid, colorful, and magic, and for a minute I understood that its world was as real as the one I currently inhabit. The dream began as I noticed the girl in the seat in front of me drawing on the window fog in the same way I like to. When we began to talk there was confusion between us because I kept telling her about half-remembered omens and dreams. Soon though our talk turned to action in some sort of mischievous prank. At a costume store at a mall. We were rearranging things to mess with the hypnotized consumers. We were with a man I didn’t know and two women who it turned out were lovers. Our prank was soon discovered and we tried to play it off but the system thought it a bigger deal than we did and we had to make a quick decision. The man said something like “If you value your freedom, sometimes you have to run.” Run we did….We escaped to somewhere I knew was safe, a place where I knew those who guarded the entrance. It was some sort of midnight magic theater. Inside were all kinds of people watching some strange movie. We went to the front and laid on the floor. We had taken some sort of drug and things were beginning to seem very strange. I looked behind me and saw an old friend who was there and surprised to see us. It seemed impossible to me that I could run into him here in this world of dream. He looked at me and said “I’m counting on you to tell me what this all means”. I got up to use the bathroom and when I returned I was distracted in conversation and momentarily forgot about the girl. When I came back to where we had been she was gone but her friend gave me a book she had left for me and a message in another language, something like “makhab” with that Hebrew 'ch'… in it. She told me to ask my Israeli friends what it means. Mysterious knowledge is available in dreams. I awoke and prepared to return to Israel across the Sinai.
