Protective Mother

I am the mother of a beautiful little girl. We are walking down the street together when a breeze picks up her toy. She chases after it. I am jogging to try and catch up, but she is much faster than I. She starts to get really far away and so I holler at her to slow down. She doesn't respond. I notice a bunch of police cars and caution tape up ahead, some sort of crime scene in the distance that she is fast approaching. I feel concerned and frustrated. Something or someone (I can't remember) breaks through the barriers of the crime scene and takes off running in the direction of my daughter. I have this overwhelming feeling that she may be in danger. I race to catch up to her. By the time I reach her, I'm very upset and begin to scold her. My teacher, Rebecca, passes by as I'm scolding my daughter and sweetly says to me, "Let it go." As her words sink in, I realize that I should be grateful that my daughter is ok, and to explain safety to her from a place of love rather than a place of anger. I feel ashamed for my initial reaction.
