Looking for a bit on insight on this one.
In both parts of this dream, I am female. This is interesting to me, as it is not my normal mode while dreaming.
I have been caught by some entity and trapped on a well-lit floating platform surrounded by darkness.
The impression I have is that to fall off is to die. I can fly in this place, however nothing on which to land is visible, except for the platform. There is an objective here. What has been labeled an "impossible" task of catching 2 pieces of paper floating around the platform in one flight and returning to it with them. There is a strong, ever-changing wind in this place that makes stable flight and hovering difficult, and that make the sheets of paper difficult to catch. After catching one, what appears to be a friendly entity appears on the platform urging me to land safely and abandon the second piece. I refuse, and fly towards the second piece knowing I don't have the energy to return to the platform. I dive towards the sheet, catch it, and start to fall, happily and without fear into the darkness.
I manage to catch some hidden ledge with a narrow, invisible edge I use to carefully skirt towards a newly illuminated exit... At this point, the setting of the dream changes.
It is nighttime. I am trapped inside a suitcase. As I peer out, I see Mafiosos in a large room. There are other suitcases with people inside, and the mafia members are killing them. One man was killed with a cattle-punch to his head. Another by being shot through the case, and again after they opened the case. I notice a negligently discarded high-powered machine gun (like an M-60 or BAR) in an empty bedroom near the case I'm in. I sneak an arm out of the case, grab the weapon, cock it, and begin shooting the Mafiosos. When it runs out of ammo, I discard it, and jump out of the window. When I land on the ground, I begin to run, confidently but urgently, looking for a place to hide, knowing they are coming for me. I am in a suburban area running along the surface streets when I see a corner-house with a fairly low roof. I jump, grab the ledge, and pull myself onto the roof and duck behind the apex where I cannot be seen from the street. One resident of this house "the daughter" spots me from the side yard and is alarmed by my presence. I press my finger to my lips pleadingly and she nods. Her father opens the door to the side yard and seems to question her about something. Whatever she says to him gets him back in the house, and I feel as though I can trust her. The sun starts to rise and I am still on the roof when "the father" gets in the car to leave for work. I look at him, and I recognize his face as somebody that I know in my waking life. I generally perceive this person as shady and untrustworthy, and I do not want him to see me. I hear on his car radio that there is a reward of $10,000 for any person that finds me. He drives away. I walk across the roof to the edge of the house where I see a drain pipe leading from this roof to the adjacent one. I carefully navigate across this pipe until I get over the fence where the neighbor spots me and is also startled. I give this man a "shy" smile as if he had simply caught me being a little mischievous, he believes what I intend, laughs, and returns to his business. I wake up.
