Last night's dream was nothing impressing, I only remember bits and pieces of it.. like me wandering around in a mystical forest, hiding from everyone. Particularly, my father. There was no real point or message to this dream, just a safe place for me to retreat to.
So, I will tell a more interesting dream I had some time ago that left me curious and confused to its true meaning.
~~~
This dream began in a white room. The walls were white, the ceiling was white, and so was the floor. It appeared to be some sort of hospital but I couldn't be sure. I was standing with one of my closest confidant and teacher with whom I confide in concerning most occult matters. He was dressed in black robes and was a refreshing breath of balance to this all white room. He pointed at my ears and even lifted them.
It was at this point where I realized... my ears had undergone a peculiar kind of surgery. There were tubes running from the back of my ear lobes into my skull and my brain. These tubes were barely covered with skin. My ears themselves, were larger than my ears normally are.
I was... surprised when he pointed them out. Mostly because I didn't seem to have any knowledge of this operation ever taking place. I couldn't even really feel my ears and my thoughts were as still as an untouched pond. There was a sort of fog hanging over me and the strength this sudden realization had on me was intense. I mostly wondered why I couldn't remember when the operation took place or more importantly WHO had done the operation and why.
Personally, I don't see the transformation as a negative one but I'll leave it open to interpretation.
A symbol of individuality—of private thoughts. The windows symbolize the possibility of understanding and of passing through to the external and
the beyond, and are also an illustration of any idea of communication. Hence, a
closed room lacking windows may be symbolic of virginity, according to Frazer,
and also of other kinds of non-communication. Many rites involving the
enclosureimage are performed to mark the reaching of puberty, all over the world.
The legend about Danae, shut up by her father in a bronze tower, pertains to this
particular symbolism. There is a Siberian legend concerning a ‘dark house of iron’
which is also relevant to it (21). We might also mention the ‘vase with a lid’, one
of the eight emblems of good luck in Chinese Buddhism, and a symbol of wholeness, of the idea with no ‘exit’, or, in other words, of supreme intelligence triumphant over birth and death (signified respectively by the doors and windows of
the room) (5). This explains why the hermetically sealed room may possibly be
a variant form of the ‘vase with a lid’.
The point signifies unity, the Origin and the Centre. It also represents
the principles of manifestation and emanation, and hence in some mandalas the
centre is not actually shown but must be imagined by the initiate. There are two
kinds of point to be considered: that which has no magnitude and is symbolic of
creative virtue, and that which—as suggested by Raymond Lull in his Nova
Geometria—has the smallest conceivable or practicable magnitude and is a symbol of the principle of manifestation. Moses of Leon defined the nature of the
original Point as follows: ‘This degree is the sum total of all subsequent mirrors,
that is, of all external aspects related to this one degree. They proceed therefrom
because of the mystery of the point, which is in itself an occult degree emanating
from the mystery of the pure and awe-inspiring ether. The first degree of all is
absolutely occult, that is, not manifest, and cannot be attained’ (25). This explains why the Centre—identical with the mystic point of Moses of Leon—is
usually represented as a hole.
The eleventh enigma of the Tarot pack. The image shows a queen
who, without apparent effort, overcomes a lion, holding his jaws wide open. The
allusion to the Zodiac is clear enough—Leo vanquished by Virgo—and the subject finds its mythological counterpart in Hercules overcome by Omphale. Wirth
points to a highly interesting detail in the allegory: the queen does not slay the
lion, but clasps it to her bosom having stunned it with her club, signifying that one
must not despise the inferior, but master it and put it to good use. There is an echo
here of the alchemists’ belief that what is base must not—and indeed cannot—be
destroyed, it must be transmuted into what is superior. In the affirmative sense,
this enigma symbolizes the triumph of intelligence over brutality; in the negative,
it denotes insensibility and fury (59).
