I dreamt that I had traveled somewhere really far away (New York?) and needed to travel somewhere else within hours (Tokyo?) in order to make it to my friend Shannon's wedding.
The whole dream seemed to be about my getting distracted from the key purpose of the dream-which was to get on the phone and make flight arrangements to this wedding before 7:30pm that night. The strange thing was that once 7:30pm actually rolled around, it seems to have stopped there, because every time I checked the clock after that, it didn't change. It was if time had stopped. This didn't keep my dream self from worrying about it, though.

Difficult travelling conditions such as a dark road, a bad storm, or an accident in a car, or other vehicle may be symbolic of the difficulties that we experience in our daily journey through life. Night is related to the passive principle, the feminine and the unconscious. Hesiod gave it the name of ‘mother of the gods’, for the Greeks believed
that night and darkness preceded the creation of all things (8). Hence, night—like
water—is expressive of fertility, potentiality and germination (17); for it is an
anticipatory state in that, though not yet day, it is the promise of daylight. Within
the tradition of symbology it has the same significance as death and the colour
To have a dream that takes place at night, represents some major setbacks and obstacles in achieving your goals. You are being faced with an issue that is not so clear cut. Perhaps, you should put the issues aside so you can clear your head and come back to it later. Alternatively, night may be synonymous with death, rebirth, reflection, and new beginnings.

The symbolism of flight comprises a variety of elements. The most
basic derives from the pleasurable sensation of movement in a medium that is
more subtle than water and unfettered by gravity. But, this apart, flying implies
raising oneself and is therefore closely connected with the symbolism of level, not
only in connexion with moral values but also with the notion of superiority
applied to other qualities, such as power or strength. Diel has pointed out that the
importance of the ‘rise and fall’ image—as illustrated in the myth of Icarus in
particular—is corroborated by a great many authors (15). And Bachelard has
observed that ‘of all metaphors, only those pertaining to height, ascent, depth,
descent and fall are axiomatic. Nothing can explain them but they can explain
everything.’ Flight has also been conceived as the ‘transcendence of growth’.
According to Toussenel, in Le Monde des oiseaux, ‘we envy the bird his good
fortune and endow with wings the object of our love, for we know by instinct
that, in the sphere of complete happiness, our bodies will enjoy the power to
wheel through space as the bird flies through the air’ (3). Flight is related to space
and light; psychologically it is a symbol of thought and of imagination.
To dream of an airline flight, symbolizes a project that is about to take off. If the flight is delayed, then is suggests that you are unprepared in undertaking the project at hand.
To dream that you miss your flight or a connection, indicates that you are feeling helpless and trapped by some situation. You feel that you are being held back, either physically or mentally. As an attribute, it pertains to several mythic characters, including Hecate
(31). It is symbolic of mystery or enigma, or of a task to be performed, and the
means of carrying it out. It sometimes refers to the threshold of the unconscious
(32). The key to knowledge corresponds, within the cycle of the year, to the
month of June (healing). The conjunction of the symbols of the male dove and the
key signifies the spirit opening the gates of heaven (4). The emblem formed by
two keys, sometimes placed over a heart, relates to Janus (4). In legend and
folklore, three keys are often used to symbolize a like number of secret chambers
full of precious objects. They are symbolic representations of initiation and
knowledge. The first key, of silver, concerns what can be revealed by psychological understanding; the second is made of gold, and pertains to philosophical
wisdom; the third and last, of diamond, confers the power to act (38). The finding
of a key signifies the stage prior to the actual discovery of the treasure, found
only after great difficulties. Clearly there is a morphological relationship between
the key and the Nem Ankh sign (or ‘Eternal Life’)—the anserated cross of the Egyptians; their gods are sometimes shown holding this cross by the top as if it
were a key, especially in ceremonies concerning the dead. But it should perhaps
be pointed out that, in this case, it is the keys that derive from the anserated cross,
the archetype of the key of Eternal Life that opens up the gates of death on to
