The next dream seemed to be mostly be taking place at this weird house. My mother and step-father Gerald (he made an appearance) as well as my brother Jason was there. I think Brendon might have been there as a child, but I'm not sure.
I remember my mother coming home and I felt resentful towards her the minute she walked through the door. I started telling her, "I hope you're leaving soon." She didn't hear me, initially. My dream self felt a twinge of anxiety, but repeated what she just said, more loudly. My mother didn't seem to care and confirmed that she and Gerald were, indeed, leaving very soon, and proceeded to do just that. They got into their red pick-up truck. Meanwhile, my dream self is yelling at them, "I hope you're not coming back anytime soon, " or something similar. Again, my mother didn't seem to care and Gerald didn't even look my way or speak a word.
Then I went outside and around the house to visit with my brother, Jason. He had a couple friends show up. They were standing and I said to Jason, "aren't you going to introduce your friends?" He wasn't, so we introduced ourselves. I remember one of them was tall, dark and wearing a big, flannel shirt. I think the other one was shorter, blond and wearing a hat. They both seemed very quiet.
I think I had to leave to go in the house, which was being trashed by some children? There were a few toddlers on some contraption, beating each other with toys. This may have been later in the dream, during the restaurant scene.
Meanwhile, back at Jason's, it becomes suddenly apparent that I have this very large, very round bump that is moving up my arm, under my skin. Some one in the dream points out that it is a bug and that they knew it was a bug. I am trying to catch it. I actually get it between the skin, by holding the skin down and holding it between the fingers of my left hand. It starts to hum or vibrate. The skin that is covering it starts to seem more translucent and I start to see what definitely looks like a very round-shelled beetle. It seems very agitated for being trapped and my dream self is pretty terrified by this time.
The dream seems to fade out here. I don't think I woke up, though. I think I just went into the next dream.
I think I end up in this restaurant, initially because I was hungry. Oh, yeah, I remember I was scouting it out to see if it would be suitable for Kimila and I to have lunch. I wanted to have seafood and in the dream this place had a good reputation. I look at the menus (they are written into these vertical structures that act as partitions for some of the booths). The place is very busy. I end up going from the cafe part to the tavern because it is pretty small. The floor and bar area appear dark and the place seems blocked off as well as closed. I see a wooden, carved holster on the floor. I pick it up and turn it in to the bartender, who suddenly appears on the scene. He thanks me, takes it and puts it on the floor again. He may have gotten some steak juice and poured it onto the floor and then placed the holster there, or it may have just started oozing steak juice. Even my dream self finds this a bit strange.
I end up sitting next to a couple of children. I had acquired a couple of happy meal boxes from the staff and was quite surprised at how many balloons and prizes they put inside. The kids don't seem as surprised as I do.
The three of us end up doing a puzzle together. Or I had a nearly complete puzzle and asked them if they wanted to finish it with me. They bungle it so badly, though, that I take all the pieces back to try to redo it. This is the strangest part of the dream. One of the adults around me gets invaded by the little boy who'd been helping with the puzzle. I know this because his face painfully morphs and contorts until this one-eyed impish or alien (kind of a cross between a muppet and a gremlin) creature is sitting there. He stares intently at me with his one very green eye and a big smile.
On some level, even dreaming, I felt I had witnessed the ego shifting back and forth through different identities.
