There are several people whom I know in a ground-floor level room in the basement of a church. Each of these people represent their neighborhood in the Seattle area. Each must present something to sell to the group, taking turns and also designating another person to help "sell" the product by talking it up in a promotional manner. The Ballard guy sells an orange baby jumpsuit. He picks me to help promote it, and I have to muster every creative bone in my body because I think this thing is kinda lame and, besides, none of these folks have kids. I go for the angle that they might have friends with kids, that this jumper is one-of-a-kind.... the potential buyers are looking very bored. So, I tell them that you can put it on a doll, or better yet--their dog! This raises an eyebrow or two. We have a buyer. I remember at one point that Mary C. from Bothell held up 12 Euros as an offer (Arcanum 12= The Apostolate, or Tolerance). Adam Prarie is up next, representing Wallingford. He opens his laptop to show a music video he and his friends made to promote their new CD, which is what he is selling. The video is hilarious... it's a spoof on the Beatles. The video is filed with old film or is made to look like old 8mm film using CG effects. The people are all super hippy-happy and frolicking around in a meadow, but bizarre things like tubas are growing out of the earth and eggbeaters are flying around. Hmmmmm.....
