It was midnight when the first 8.5 earthquake struck. I was riding a BART train over tracks suspended high above the city. For several minutes, we were tumbled about like tiny bugs in a jar.
Now we stood together in silence, watching through our stalled train's windows as the world descended into apocalypse.
The bay area was as black as the sky. All electrical power was long gone. Lightening began to crack like a strobe over the crumbling neighborhoods.

A young woman put down her baby, and used another passenger's bicycle to smash open the doors so we could continue watching. There was no objections. We all wanted to see the world end.
Nearby buildings were torn from their foundations like weeds by giant twisters that swept in from the east.
The skyline burst into flames. Soon the smell of toxic smoke and seared flesh curled through the train cabin as flames rose up from below.
Crazy people on the train began to howl and cackle and chant "Trim the dead wood, trim the dead wood, trim the dead wood, THEY'RE TRIMMING THE DEAD WOOD!!!!"
This chaos rocked every inch of California. The surrounding states were perfectly serene.
