We are traveling in a large caravan over desert terrain... feels like Africa. Yoga students, Gnostic Instructors, many seekers that I have known well or in passing, comprise this wandering pack.
Silently, with sweat on our brows and breathing steadily, we walk towards the dusky sunset.
We come upon an oasis, surrounded by an ancient mud-brick wall. There is a palm tree near the wall. My friend John--ever the adventurous one, looks at me with wide eyes and childlike smile, then begins to shimmy his way up the tree and over the wall. We follow, one by one. My heart is leaping in excitement at the mystery of it all.
We find ourselves inside a cave... there are many shimmering pools of water illuminated by the phosphorescent creatures which cling to the dripping stalactites high above. The cool air smells of algae and salt.
Each member of the caravan is independently exploring different aspects of the cave. Silence still abounds.
I kneel down to examine a pool of water filled with beetles who are pulsing with brilliant red and blue light. Jeff Comer approaches and looks over my shoulder. "They are highly benevolent" he says. I can feel their elemental spirits greeting me with cheerful openness.
Feathered creatures of shifting colors scurry over the walls, creating the illusion of a morphing mural. They move in synchronicity, creating geometric images. The group stands together, watching in wonder.
