Geoff and I were preparing for an ancient Gnostic initiation. We were at the edge of the yard of my childhood home. There were many lines to memorize but we had chanted these mantras in the past and were somewhat familiar with them. Our white tunics had golden edges that were glistening in the sunlight of dawn.
An angel descended from the eastern sky and slowly flittered down to us. She wasn't quite what we were expecting. This angel girl appeared to be about 14 years old, had a dyed eggplant-colored pageboy haircut with a hot-pink streak, lip piercing and low gauge tribal earrings, silver suspenders, black t-shirt, tattoos, short skirt with mismatched striped socks and army boots. She was chomping on some gum.
She flashed the sign of Inverential Peace and we knew she was legit and Christic.
Are you guys ready? She asked.
We began to recite the ritual along with her, although her version was very different from ours. I was distracted by this for a moment and worried if we had prepared incorrectly. Deep down a peace settled upon me and I knew that as long as our intention was true that the Divine Mother inside us would align the energies to accomplish the initiatic process. I filled my heart with the nectar of the words and surrendered to this transmutation alongside Geoff.
She very informally wrapped things up. Okay, all set! She chirped. Geoff and I looked at one another and smiled. She ascended back into the east.
