In many dreams that I transform into a wolf, I visit my grandparents place. When I lived near them I would dream about being a wolf and going there, running down the big, empty road they have and sniffing in the bushes and chasing things and jumping over fences. I think I liked the fact that there were no restrictions- as a human, I couldn't go into other peoples gardens and sniff their flowers or just run up and down the road, but I could in my wolf form. I have concluded that this is a type of therianthropy, that I have an animal inside that can only express itself in my dreams- as it has done for many, many years. Although that is just a theory.
As for the flying aspect, this is another very popular theme in my dreams and I am always aware that I am still human when I fly. I have this instinct that behind me are two very large, powerful bird's wings and they work very realistically as I have mentioned before. It usually takes one or two tries to lift off and when I am up in the air it's a very slow rise, and I always feel a little insecure flying in big open spaces, especially when I'm very high up. I think that in my dreams I need to learn to catch warm air pockets, but I think I'm too heavy for them to work!
I believe that this could be a way of my subconscious wanting to ascend but it is still being chained down by rational thought. I am aware that I am not a very abstract person, but extremely logical. Perhaps this is a sign that I should be more abstract.

Symbolic of valour among the Romans and the Egyptians. It also
appears as a guardian in a great many monuments (8). In Nordic mythology we
are told of a monstrous wolf, Fenris, that would destroy iron chains and shackles
and was eventually shut up in the bowels of the earth. It was also said that, with
the twilight of the gods—the end of the world—the monster would break out of
this prison too, and would devour the sun. Here, then, the wolf appears as a
symbol of the principle of evil, within a pattern of ideas which is unquestionably
related to the Gnostic cosmogony. Nordic mythology presupposes that cosmic
order is possible only through the temporary shackling of the chaotic and destructive potential of the universe—a potential which (through the process of
Symbolic Inversion—q.v.) must triumph in the end. The myth is also connected
with all other concepts of the final annihilation of the world, whether by water or
by fire.

Of the four Elements, air and fire are regarded as active and male; water
and earth as passive and female. In some elemental cosmogonies, fire is given
pride of place and considered the origin of all things, but the more general belief is
that air is the primary element. Compression or concentration of air creates heat
or fire, from which all forms of life are then derived. Air is essentially related to
three sets of ideas: the creative breath of life, and, hence, speech; the stormy
wind, connected in many mythologies with the idea of creation; and, finally,
space as a medium for movement and for the emergence of life-processes. Light,
flight, lightness, as well as scent and smell, are all related to the general symbolism
of air (3). Gaston Bachelard says that for one of its eminent worshippers,
Nietzsche, air was a kind of higher, subtler matter, the very stuff of human
freedom. And he adds that the distinguishing characteristic of aerial nature is that
it is based on the dynamics of dematerialization. Thoughts, feelings and memories
concerning heat and cold, dryness and humidity and, in general, all aspects of
climate and atmosphere, are also closely related to the concept of air. According to
Nietzsche, air should be cold and aggressive like the air of mountain tops. Bachelard
relates scent to memory, and by way of example points to Shelley’s characteristic
lingering over reminiscences of smell.
To dream about the air, symbolizes creativity and intelligence. If the air is foggy or polluted, then it suggests that your thought process or mind is clouded.

Dreaming of inhaling unpleasant hot air might point to bad influences and bad forces at work against you, and cold air indicates some degree of failure professionally and emotionally.
To catch something in your dream, suggests that you need to incorporate something into your life. Consider the object you are trying to catch and look up its meaning. If you are trying to catch a ball, then it indicates that you want to feel whole or you need to be more well-rounded. If you catch a fish, then it suggests that you need to be more spiritual.
To dream that you are playing catch, signifies your carefree attitude. You are enjoying life. Consider who you are playing catch with. If you are playing catch with mother or father, then it represents your bond and closeness to them.
The dream may also be a metaphor to indicate something that is "catchy" or contagious.
