My Glamorous Life as a Dream-time Tattoo Artist...

My tattoo studio space was in a strange old "mall" building, not unlike where Laughing Buddha is - with the exposed wooden beams etc. But it was a much smaller, more compact space. The Chai House had a portion of it, which was great. I went in there often to assess the donut situation and get coffee to enjoy with the spliffs I was rolling.
I wouldn't say I was hot shit, but I was well established as an artist and had no trouble with getting clientele. There were tons of artistic youth hanging around the building/area, who would frequently come in and check out the art on my walls. There was another tattoo studio in the building. It was more of the old-school stuff and had its own brand of clientele. I spent a fair amount of time wandering around the mall, being distracted when I ought to have been working. I had a couple of people come in with project ideas, but I just didn't feel like doing them right then.
Also in the mall was a performance space/chapel. Earlier in the dream, I'd spent a little time smoking a spliff up in the back and watching some crazy rock musical.
Then a new artist came to the building. He set up shop across from my studio. He was a little younger but had a crazy following. I meant to meet him but he was often with clients and distracted. I went in to look at his work and it really blew me away. He did all black-work and clean-line symbolism. He was really amazing and right away I found myself wanting to get some of his work.
There was a lot of stuff going on all at once though, so I didn't get a chance to talk with him or meet him or ask. His studio was hopping. They were listening to loud dubstep and he was preparing for his own wedding. He and Natasha were going to get married in this huge ceremony, with their very own dubstep rock opera. I got invited and I was all about heading down there. Then one of the girls who was a client of his asked if I could do some work for her. We went in my studio - which was now my bedroom for whatever reason. She laid down on my floor to show me the area she wanted the tattoo. She was bottom-less and I politely examined her leg, where she wanted the art. She already had a huge piece on her leg, from her hip to her ankle. It was of a man's lower half, from navel to feet. His penis was prominent on her thigh and I thought, "who the hell would choose this for a tattoo?" She wanted some "cool design work" on her ankle and I was just not feeling it at all. I told her I'd figure something out. But she wanted it before the wedding and I knew there was no way.
I went and wandered around for a while. There was a business that was closing and I loved all their stuff but I didn't have any money to spend so I had to watch as all their awesome sale items got boxed up and taken away. (This is exactly where I am in waking life.) I made another round to look for something to eat and a coffee, while I smoked another spliff.
Then it was time for the wedding. I really wanted to check it out, but I when I showed up, the girl I'd met with was all pissed that I didn't have a drawing for her. Suddenly I felt really alienated from that crowd. The seat where I was expected to sit was right up front and I could feel many unhappy eyes looking and whispers being exchanged. So I got up and left, just as the ceremony was beginning. I stood outside the chapel and watched as the first number of the rock opera started up. What nerds! This guy takes himself way too seriously!
I wandered some more and eventually, the ceremony came out into the common area of the mall. Everyone was chanting in this really cool round that felt laden with magic. As I took leave from their group, I was walking down the street and a guy came up to me excited to show me something. He took me to a window of a car dealership showroom and had me look up at the ceiling. I bent to do so and his friend came up and tried to stick his finger in my butt. I realized I was without underwear or anything under my long shirt. I wondered how long I had been this way, and no one told me.
I checked in my backpack and found my old pair of gauze pants (long ago sacrificed to the trash heap, because the pants had become built out of patches - gauze is a terrible material for pants!) I went into an underground car lot and snuck between some cars to dress. It was shady, but I just needed to regain my modesty.
Then I was back at the mall and back at the Chai House. They were closing so I didn't want to linger long, but then they started asking me questions about tattooing. Standing there, we discussed apprenticeships and techniques and good tattooing and I regained my sense of dignity because suddenly these people were looking at me like I knew what I was talking about. It felt good.
When I left there to go wander again, I realized that the three tattoo studios in the building ought to team up and get a much larger space and have a real tattoo shop. This idea was beyond exciting and I started wandering to look at all the vacant spaces where a tattoo shop might fit.
