I was on a flight. Daniel was sitting next to me. There were lots of friends and family members as well as strangers on the flight. It was a massive vessel. It flew through the air like a plane, had seats and stewards like a plane, but it was shaped like the dining area of the Space Needle, only much, much larger. It was a circular disk with seating on the inner loop and a walkabout and stores on the outer loop.
In our seats, the steward came by and asked which meal I wanted. They weren't very descriptive. There was Bleu Chicken, Chicken on Rye and January Chicken. When I asked for an explanation, he couldn't tell me so I picked the Chicken on Rye because it sounded like a safe bet. Then I gave him a puppy face and asked if I really really didn't like it, could I change it for something else. He wandered off without an answer.
Keira was in the seat behind us, small, like a baby, and in someone else's lap. Keira had a younger brother in the dream and he too was behind us, lounging in the lap of a stranger. The guys holding him seemed really comfy and content. I was a little surprised, but happy we didn't have to deal with a baby on a plane.
I got up and went to the bathroom. I had cornrows in my hair and they were pulling too tight. I had been itching my scalp in between them and as a result had scraped away all the hair in between the rows. I took them out and the hair sort of covered the bald streaks. Before I could panic about it, I wandered on. I was walking the isles, roaming around this giant flying disk. I went out to the store area and found an area that was nice and open. There was a ramp to the restrooms and a railing, so I did some stretches, using the railing to open my shoulders. I was wearing some shiny tights and super spiked heels. For whatever reason, the shoes weren't uncomfortable or difficult to manage on the plane.
I stopped and talked with a guy who was getting all geared up to ride a motorcycle. I thought it odd since we weren't anywhere near landing yet.
I wandered toward a kiosk that sold lots of little colorful things that Keira would like - pastel colored pencil erasers, shaped like animals, plastic bracelets, kitschy stuff. There was a box of half-consumed tic-tacs and I thought of stealing them for Dan but then decided against it. For a moment my mind flashed to the kitties, who were down in the cargo area, in our car. This craft had a parking area below, almost like on a ferry.
As I returned to the seating area, I found where we were seated and for the first time noticed that we'd been seated on the edge of the sports bar. There were some big screens showing games, and a bar way behind us. I heard a woman say, "Oh...Bisou!" and I looked, expecting to see my kitty Bisou. Instead, she had a little gray kitten that she had named Bisou and the kitten was not happy to have to be in her arms. The cat jumped and landed and took off down the isle. I immediately ran after it, trying to remain calm. But the cat was running fast and the craft was so huge - it could easily get lost in there. I chased it down a few sections of seating, then it turned and tried to go into the open area in the middle of the craft. An older woman reached down and grabbed the kitten by the scruff. But now the kitten was much larger and quite a handful. She managed to hold the kitten until I could get there.
I scooped him up and held him close, while I tried to make my way back up to the woman. I hadn't realized how far away I was now. This ship was huge!!!

The symbolism of flight comprises a variety of elements. The most
basic derives from the pleasurable sensation of movement in a medium that is
more subtle than water and unfettered by gravity. But, this apart, flying implies
raising oneself and is therefore closely connected with the symbolism of level, not
only in connexion with moral values but also with the notion of superiority
applied to other qualities, such as power or strength. Diel has pointed out that the
importance of the ‘rise and fall’ image—as illustrated in the myth of Icarus in
particular—is corroborated by a great many authors (15). And Bachelard has
observed that ‘of all metaphors, only those pertaining to height, ascent, depth,
descent and fall are axiomatic. Nothing can explain them but they can explain
everything.’ Flight has also been conceived as the ‘transcendence of growth’.
According to Toussenel, in Le Monde des oiseaux, ‘we envy the bird his good
fortune and endow with wings the object of our love, for we know by instinct
that, in the sphere of complete happiness, our bodies will enjoy the power to
wheel through space as the bird flies through the air’ (3). Flight is related to space
and light; psychologically it is a symbol of thought and of imagination.

In anthropology, woman corresponds to the passive principle of
nature. She has three basic aspects: first, as a siren, lamia or monstrous being who
enchants, diverts and entices men away from the path of evolution; second, as the
mother, or Magna mater (the motherland, the city or mother-nature) related in
turn to the formless aspect of the waters and of the unconscious; and third, as the
unknown damsel, the beloved or the anima in Jungian psychology. In his Symbols
of Transformation, Jung maintains that the ancients saw Woman as either Eve,
Helen, Sophia or Mary (corresponding to the impulsive, the emotional, the intellectual, and the moral) (33). One of the purest and all-embracing archetypes of
Woman as anima is Beatrice in Dante’s Commedia (32). All allegories based upon
the personification of Woman invariably retain all the implications of the three
basic aspects mentioned above. Of great interest are those symbols in which the
Woman appears in association with the figure of an animal—for example, the
swan-woman in Celtic and Germanic mythology, related to the woman with the
hoof of a goat in Hispanic folklore. In both cases the woman disappears once her
maternal mission has been completed and, similarly, the virgin qua virgin ‘dies’ in order to give way to the matron (31). In iconography it is common to find parts
of the female figure combined with that of a lion. The Egyptian goddess Sekhmet,
characterized by her destructiveness, had the body of a woman and the head (and
therefore the mind) of a lion. Conversely, a figure with a lion’s body and a
woman’s head appears in the Hieroglyphica of Valeriano as an emblem of the
hetaira (39). The inclusion of feminine, morphological elements in the composition of traditional symbols such as the sphinx always alludes to a background of
nature overlaid with the projection of a concept or of an entire complex of cosmic
intuitions. In consequence, the Woman is an archetypal image of great complexity
in which the decisive factor may be the superimposed symbolic aspects—for
example, the superior aspects of Woman as Sophia or Mary determine her function as a personification of science or of supreme virtue; and when presented as
an image of the anima, she is superior to the man because she is a reflection of the
loftiest and purest qualities of the man. In her baser forms as Eve or as Helen—
the instinctive and emotional aspects—Woman is on a lower level than the man.
It is here, perhaps, that she appears at her most characteristic—a temptress, the
Ewig Weibliche, who drags everything down with her, and a symbol comparable
with the volatile principle in alchemy, signifying all that is transitory, inconsistent, unfaithful and dissembling. See also The Loved One and Sophia.

The deepest and most ancient meaning of the myth of the giant alludes
to the supposed existence of an immense, primordial being, by whose sacrifice
creation was brought forth. This cosmogonic myth was very common among
primitive and ancient peoples, and it shows how rites involving the sacrifice of
humans are an attempt to revive the initial sacrifice and to resuscitate the cosmic
forces or to reawaken, at least, their favourable proclivities (17). Now, the giant
is, in himself, neither good nor bad, but merely a quantitative amplification of the
ordinary; hence, as the case may be, there are some legendary giants who are
protectors and others who are aggressive. This sense of the giant as ‘that which
surpasses’ human stature (here symbolic of power and strength), is also indicative of the broad significance of the giant. He may be an image of the ‘Terrible
Father’, arising from childhood memories—children see their parents as giants—
or an image of the unconscious, the ‘dark side’ of the personality menacing the
Jungian Selbst (21), etc. It is interesting to note that in folklore the giant is tutelar
in character: he is usually the defender of the common people against the overlord, upholding their liberties and rights. Without generalizing, one implication of
the giant may be said to be the personification of collective Man—as implied in
the maxim ‘united we stand’—or of the life of a community (16). But the general
myth of the giant is far from being confined to this specialized meaning. In nearly
all symbolic traditions, he tends to appear as an outcropping of the marvellous
and the terrible, even though he always has a certain quality of the inferior or the
subordinate about him. The Bible refers to Goliath and to Og, king of Bashan at
the time of the exodus (46). Samson has certain characteristics of the giant. In the
West, Bodo, Rübezahl, Geryon, Gargantua and Hercules are the most significant
in gigantomachy; in Greek tradition, there are the Titans and the Cyclops. Christian tradition has often seen Satan as a giant (50). The tragic hero is intimately
linked with the giant, although, at times, in inverse relation as his adversary (60).
Frazer describes the numerous cases in which giant figures in wood or wickerwork were set fire to during midsummer festivals, comparable with the Valencian
fallas (or bonfires). The ancients would fill these figures with animals and even
live men, who were burnt with the effigy. They were considered as representatives of the spirit of vegetation, or of the god sacrificed to the world—which
brings us back once again to our cosmogonic interpretation. The giant may be a
symbol of ‘everlasting rebellion’, of the forces of dissatisfaction which grow
within Man and determine his history and his destiny; it may, that is to say, be a
symbol of the Universal Man (Adam Kadmon, 21). Now, according to Jungian 119 GOG AND MAGOG
psychology, the giant’s essence—or his appearance, rather—seems to correspond to the father-symbol, representing the spirit that withstands the instincts,
or as the guardian of the treasure (that is, the mother—the unconscious), in which
case it is identical with the dragon-symbol. Reviewing all this, Jung quotes the
example of Humbaba, the guardian of the garden of Ishtar in the Gilgamesh epic
(31).
