Learning to Drive on Threat of Life...

I showed up at a public park. It was filled with lots of people, most of them Black. They were all engaged in some kind of game, that was as dangerous as it looked. I vaguely remember trying to find a place to stay. There was a house on the fringe of the park that let me stay, but then got mad when I accidentally got blood on their floor and sheets. Eventually they sort of shamed me out and I wound up going out to the park. Susy was there, my friend Sarah from high school and my Mom. I felt safe at first. I was peripheral to the activities going on. It seemed strange. There were several very young children who had been trained to wield extremely sharp kitchen knives.
I wandered around, observing lots of interactions. My mom was actually hitting it off with a young man and eventually I saw them making out. There was a lot that happened in the middle, but I don't recall. My memory picks up when I was strong-armed by a man, and made to kneel at the feet of a trio of gangsters. There was another person by my side, also made to kneel but I don't know who it was.
Kissing the ground, I complied with their orders, knowing it could mean my life. There was a young man, next to him a menacing woman, who kind of took on the appearance of a warrior from Mad Max. Next to her was another menacing looking black man, wearing a hat, glasses, leather jacket and under it all, a pair of lace-up leather heels. Curious.
The first man knelt down beside me and put me in a sort of half-nelson. It didn't hurt and it was almost affectionate. At first he just held me there. Then he said, "You know what? The first thing you might want to do it change your shirt. Do you know why?" I was wearing Dan's white Cambodia shirt, which I typically wear as a night-shirt. "Because I smell?" "Yes, because you smell like a hippy." I nodded in agreeance. That said, he dropped the topic and moved on. "You want to make some money? For your family?" I said nothing. The conversation could have gone on, but I remember being handed a handful of money. It was all wadded and crumpled. It was U.S. currency, but had the colors and bling of Canadian. I started to unfurl it. At first, all I saw was ones and fives. I wasn't very impressed. Then I kept unfurling it and saw some fifties and hundreds. There was about $450 dollars there. I was speechless that this man was willing to just give me this money.
He asked, "DO you know what I want you to do?" I responded, "Kill a killer?" As soon as I said it, I was on the job and I was a known target. Immediately I leapt up and snatched up some of the knives, crisscrossing them the way I'd seen the kids do. I started to run to an area of the park that was more sparse, so I could see and feel safe and get a handle on what was going on. I didn't even know who I was supposed to kill. And I didn't want to kill anyone.
Back where I had been sitting, a fight was breaking out that was turning into an all-out war. People were running in every direction. Somewhere, amidst it all, I saw two men - twins - looking directly at me and preparing some sort of weapon. I knew I had no time and began to run away. Soon, there were stones flying at me. With luck, the first few missed. I looked back to see that the had these huge slingshots and were whipping fist-sized stones at me. The stones came fast and hard and I could only see them when they were almost too close to dodge. I managed to avoid getting hit several times, by just ducking one way or another. But several I felt graze my face, or back, or arms.
I reached the edge of the park and was able to turn a corner. I was safe for now, but I knew they were after me. I saw a man getting out of his car. It was the car I'd arrived in, so presumably still had some of my stuff in it. I jumped in through the passenger window, kicking him out. He was yelling but I threatened him with the knives and he ran away. I tried adjusting the seat, but I realized I was in the back and wouldn't be able to drive. I jumped out and got back in the front. Angry people were coming out of the park after me. I wasted no time and just floored it. I spun the wheel and was out in the street, not going as fast as I'd like, but able to stay ahead of the people. I realized it was a stick-shift and if I was truly going to escape, I was going to have to learn how to use it. So I just trusted my intuition and balanced my foot between the gas and the clutch. It felt natural, in fact, and the car easily slid into 2nd gear. Now I was traveling at a comfortable pace. I had to weave through some oncoming traffic and maneuver some shit, but I was getting away. Eventually I put the car into 3rd gear. This time I didn't quite get it into hear and had to try again, but I actually got it. (This driving stuff is impressive because I've never driven and don't know how to use a clutch.)
I drove crazy, all over the city, trying to get lost so no one could find me. I drove right into someone's living room. Then I was just standing there. The car was gone and I wouldn't be getting it back. I was exhausted from the pace and fear of the dream. I decided I wanted to take it in a different direction. I was far from lucid, but I decided to try and find a strip-club where I could pick up a sexy woman and maybe go lucid. Thankfully, that intention changed the dream and I woke up.
