Water's Edge, Kittens, and a Smiling Man...

Dreamed so heavy last night. It had been three nights since I had really hit REM sleep, so I was in it for sure. I have fragments of them all, but not enough to make sense of. Only the end of the dreaming is with me now.

I was at the water's edge. There were a few people around but I was all by myself. The tide had come in and taken away a few things from off the beach. There was a teal sleeping bag floating in the water. Just prior I had been in a harbor and was admiring the sail boats. I decided that I really wanted a small boat, so I was quizzing someone about the price of some of the crafts. But now I wanted to be in the water. I think I was too hot out of the dream, because throughout the dream I kept trying to get into water, or take clothes off.
Lying on the shore, I slipped into the water. But then I realized that the beach was covered in beautiful baubles. Some were polished stone, some were marbles, all of them had holes drilled through for making jewelry out of. I contented myself to sifting through them while my legs dangled in the water behind me.
After a short while I noticed a man looking at me. He was sitting with a friend of his, having a conversation, but he kept looking over at me. I'm sure he thought I was weird, but I liked the attention.
Later in the dream, I was in my childhood home, which was also next to the beach. I went out in the back yard and walked to the edge of a cliff. The water was about 5 feet below, sloshing around some large boulders. I sat on the ledge with my feet dangling. I was able to touch one of the boulders and when I realized it was loose, I set myself to steadying it with my feet. I marveled at how I could steady such an enormous rock by simply cradling it with my feet. Floating in the water here was some of the flotsam from earlier. The teal sleeping bag was now tangled in the rocks. I also realized that my own travel backpack was amid the rocks, bobbing on the waves. My timing was great, however, because just as I reached out for it, a wave came in and floated it right up into my hand.
Later, I was in the house. It was attached to a larger structure, like a pavilion. It was kind of like the Alley Mall on Broadway. It had a cafe and some stores and a tattoo shop - but it wasn't the Buddha. I went into the tattoo shop and somehow wound up in the back, watching an artist draw. I really liked his style but I wish I could remember what it was, because immediately, I was so excited to get tattooed by him. I started asking questions and he was acting really annoyed. I asked if he could give a minute for a consultation. He agreed with a roll of his eyes, and got up from his drawing. We walked over to the lounge area and on the way, I asked if he liked black-work. He was skeptical for a moment, but then I narrowed it down and mentioned that I wanted to get something that looked like a paper cut-out with some really cool negative space. He perked up at this and actually seemed really interested. We sat down and I explained it a little more. By now he was interacting with me like I'd just found a golden ticket. He started explaining about the limitations of tattooing but instead of telling him that I was a tattoo artist, I let him talk. I walked out with an appointment and tons of excitement.
I went to the cafe to get a drink and inside I saw the attractive man from the beach. He saw me as well and gave me the same appreciative smile. I wandered around a bit. There were lots of people there and I sense that the dream expanded here, but I've lost it. Back out in the pavilion, I came across a person with two little kittens. They were about 6 months old; really tiny and cute. One was black with a little white spot on his chest and the other was a silver tabby. I admired them for a moment, then returned home. The man from the cafe was there with a friend, hanging out with Daniel. Somehow the kittens were with us as well. I was really excited about this, and right away I put the little black one on my head. He curled around my head and I pulled my hood up and over him, so he would stay put. It was really cozy and cute. Then I went about hanging up clothes and arranging the kitchen. I think I was unpacking from a camping trip. After a while I got too hot and needed to take off some layers. I took off my jacket, which meant I didn't have a hood to keep the kitten under. I went to give the kitten back, but instead of the pavilion being there, it was just the house and there was a large cage that the other kitten was sleeping in. The owners were nowhere in sight and I realized now we had 2 more kitties. Right away I started thinking about how to find homes for them.
Then I was back to unpacking. Every time I passed a mirror, I marveled at how tiny my figure had become. Mostly around my ribs. The attractive man had passed me a few times in the hall and never said anything but the look he gave me was really flattering. I went into my bedroom to hang some things up in the closet. Daniel was standing behind the door and startled me when I came around.
Then I woke up because the cat walked on my face for the 6th time this morning.
She's happy to see us, I can't really blame her... but damn, where did this cat get her manners?
