Test Subject for an Alien Being...

I experienced a visitation in my early-morning dreams today. Though at the time, I didn't know I was dreaming. (Still not so sure...)
I had had an unusually high amount of vision, clarity and activity in my dreams during the night. By the time the visitation occurred, I was beginning to become conscious that I needed to wake up and get my day started.
I was lying in a bed (white sheets, white comforter) that was in a room that was an incorrect approximation of the room in which I now sleep, though it felt every bit as "home" as the bedroom in my waking world.
As I began to stir awake, the closet door immediately to my right began to open. I heard the handle turn and the latch click and suddenly had a sense that whomever, or whatever was on the other side, was not human.
This realization coincided instantaneously with a force coming over my body that laid me back down and held me in rigid paralysis. Not painful, but very strong. In my peripheral vision, I could begin to see the figure coming through the door. I didn't so much see it as feel it. I was frightened, not wanting to open my eyes and see what was there. With my eyes shut, I received a message in my mind - again, more a feeling than actual words - that I was in no danger and had no reason to be afraid. Whenever the fear would creep into my mind, I would combat it with a feeling of safety and trust. No matter what frightening image I had in my mind, of what this being looked like or was, I felt safe and held, so I didn't need to let my imagination take over.
Though I never saw it directly, I felt that it was very large and lumbering. I listened to it as it shuffled from the right side of the room, where it had entered, to the left side of my bed, where I sleep. I heard no distinct footsteps, just a rustling across the carpeted floor.
I peeked a little when I felt its proximity, wanting to know what it was. But in my peripheral vision, all I could see was shadows. The figure itself, though I could feel and hear it, seemed to have no mass, though its form was recognizable by its shadow. It was not human, though its mostly shapeless form was vaguely humanoid. I could see the difference between body and head, and it "walked" upright. It was dark all over and either covered in fur that obscured its features, or had no features at all, except for two points that rose up like Egyptian jackal ears on either side of its head. I closed my eyes once more and felt the communication that there was something he needed from me.
I use the pronoun "he" because I felt a distinct male energy at this point. He assured me it wouldn't hurt and that I was in no danger/didn't need to be afraid. So I relaxed ad I felt a slight pressure on my neck. I assumed he was drawing blood though I never felt a needle prick or any pain. It was over momentarily and without further communication, he began to leave, making the same rustling sound as when he had entered. He slipped back into the closet and I snapped my eyes open, hoping to catch a quick glance at him before he left. But he was already through the door, the latch snapping closed.
The moment he was out of sight, I was released from the paralysis. I felt no pain or uneasiness in my body. I jumped out of bed to share the experience with anyone else who might be in the house. As soon as I opened the door of my room however, I found myself in an unrecognizable house. My dad was there and I realized I was dreaming. It had felt so real, I'd thought it was occurring in the waking world. The paralysis in my body and the trust in this being didn't seem terribly foreign to me. As if this has happened before though I have no distinct memory of it happening.
