Silly Tattooers...

I arrived at Laughing Buddha at around 9am to find that Ruben was being extra nice to me. We hung out for a while and he was totally flirting with me. It was quite flattering. He offered to pierce me, but I couldn't decide on what I wanted. We were up in the wood-shop. Then some Native Elders arrived, who were apparently dancing with the spirit of either Ayahuasca, or Peyote. I felt incredibly honored to be in their presence at such an auspicious time, but humbly bowed out because I didn't feel pure enough to be present with them.
I went down to Aaron's station, and lo and behold he was there. At 9 am? It dawned on me that he had been there all night long and it didn't take long to figure out why. He was in the middle of Tattooing Juliana - a bicep tat of Beaker and Dr. Bunsen from the muppets. She was seated almost lounging and her boyfriend was sitting on the floor with his head in her lap. I don't know who he was, except to say that he was definitely mildly retarded and she was more his care-taker than girlfriend.
Both she and Aaron were really silly and kind of sloppy and amazingly energetic for so early in the morning. She seemed almost drunk, but not rowdy or mouthy, just relaxed and silly. He was the same, more silly and happy than I've ever seen him. He had ink all over his face and somehow managed to get more and more slopped all over him as the tattoo progressed. I soon realized that they had eaten the acid-laced altoids I gave him as a tip for my last tattoo.
They barely noticed me, as I wandered into his station and watched the madness unfold. It was endearing and hilarious.
