I had a dream that I was in a war zone in World War II. I was traveling with a child, I was not a soldier but I did have a pistol with me. I was climbing up trails in the mountains and I got captured by a German soldier. I surprised him as much as I was surprised. After a bit he quit speaking German realizing I was an American and I discovered he was an American fighting in the German army. He told me his name but I do not recall it. He did not take my pistol away as he did not know I had it. He allowed me to look at his rifle, the scope on the rifle was state of the art, it was an electronic device of some type. It was not like anything I had ever seen before. Definitely not something you would expect in the 1940's. I told him about my pistol and he took it and looked at it. I felt safe.
He told me about growing up in the United States, I was just getting to find out how he ended up alone in the mountains fighting for the Germans and I was woken up by one of my children.
This dream felt so real, I have had lucid dreams that I was a participant, but this felt as if the event really had happened and I was reliving it in my dream. I have had two dreams like this lately this one and one involving a car accident.
In a cosmic sense, every war concerns the struggle of light against
darkness—of good against evil. In mythology, there are copious examples of such
struggles between the powers of light and the forces of darkness: Jupiter’s combat with the Titans, Thor versus the giants, Gilgamesh and other heroes versus

specifically states that the only justification for war is the reducing of multiplicity to unity—disorder to order. In this way, war can be seen as the means of
reinstating the original order, or as a kind of ‘sacrifice’ which echoes the cosmogonic sacrifice. Exactly the same applies to the psychic plane: Man must seek to
achieve inner unity in his actions, in his thoughts, and also between his actions
and his thoughts. Unity of purpose is symbolized by ritual orientation, in which
the terrestrial ‘centres’ (the North star, or the East) become visual images of the
one true ‘Centre’ (25).
