A Storm

I wasn't quite awake, and I wasn't quite asleep at the same time, and there was a heavy storm outside, and I heard and felt a great roll of thunder, which built up for about thirty seconds or so, and then unleashed this incredible sound, like a massive explosion. I felt a quickening in my blood, and the sound and force of it penetrated me to my core. I could feel heavy rain beating down on my back and I felt myself lying face-down, floating on a body of water. I could feel a primal kind of energy surging through me, and although I was terrified and aware of it, I was totally content. It was lucid and not at the same time; if I moved my limbs I could feel my bed underneath me and my head on my pillow, but if I gave myself wholly to the dream I was totally immersed. I felt as though I was burning, and I was in a certain degree of pain, but I wasn't alarmed by it at all, I felt totally aware and alive in a way I hadn't been before. The sky was illuminated by lightning above me, and I saw the face of a close friend, painted in the colours of the clouds and lit by streaks of lightning like a tesla plasma ball. There was a dark and intense look on his face, and it was as though he was standing right before me. Then all I could hear was the rain, and the thunder had subsided.

The friend in question spoke to me the following day and asked if I'd felt anything peculiar at the time of the storm, as he'd woken up a few seconds before the extreme thunder because he felt something in the air and lay awake to listen to it.
