What Color is Your Paper?

I was in New Mexico (dont think I've dreamt of being in New Mexico before!). Actually, in many ways, the environment of this dream felt like a combination of Hawaii, New Mexico, and India, tho it was defiantly on the mainland (I'll describe the Hawaii parts below). At first, I'm in some large community house being involved with some type of "self-development" workshop, involving much yoga and everything. I arrive to the workshop early with a consort, and get a "first-class seat" (a space on the yoga floor). The person I arrived with is female, and it feels mainly that we are partners in only the most essential meaning of the term, supporting each other in personal growth--and we have arrived here together to transform and evolve, and are also completely independent. My attitude is very focused and sincere, and my priority is to evolve. Some of the other people here do not seem as focused. There is a swimming pool, and a large outdoor arena with an open veranda where groups of people gather. At some a point, some people start singing some holy songs, and I join in with them, which was a beautiful moment in the dream to be singing.

Then the dream shifts significantly. I am traveling alone by foot thru some beautiful terrain that looks like very smooth, rolling, green and golden grassy hills (it reminds me of either Northern California, or the area I drove thru in the "Pan Handle" the last time I drove into New Mexico in 2000). Something feels very special and I feel very "high" in this part of the dream. I am nearly lucid at times, almost that I know this is a dream, and there is this obvious awareness that I am in exactly the place I most want and need to be, and I feel completely free in myself and autonomous. And there is also this subtle awareness that some female associate is in some other dream realm parallel to this one (doing her own thing, tho in tandem). This subtle awareness of an "other" is only present for a moment when I first arrive to this place, and then it is gone as I continue to place my presence into this new environment. Then, for a moment, I borrow a high-perspective, and I am able to see the entire landscape I am surrounded by from a bird's eye view: I see precisely where each sloping hill is, and how some hills are higher than others, and can see possible pathways between hills, thru larger valleys ahead, and also paths over hills … all going toward some unknown northward destination. From this high view, I choose a very specific path that goes up over a few small hills to a location where I can sense some type of establishment is, and a "treasure" awaits me there. Having established my route, I then come back down into myself, I then choose to lie down on my back in the golden grass, totally alone, tucked between two gently sloping hills, and allow my self to be completely present with only this moment. I then have this really interesting nearly lucid moment of lying there--feeling so completely free--while looking at this small solo tree that is beyond me a ways on the slope of this golden grassy hill. The tree has very bright yellow flowers, blossoming with the feeling of spring, before a bright clear blue sky. I simply look at this tree and revel in the simple awesomeness of being consciously present for a long moment. I feel complete and whole and lucid. Then, at the perfect moment, I leap up, and pounce away knowing that I also have a path to follow. I traverse the grassy field until I come to the gentle slope of the hills I saw from the higher-view, and make a path upward. At the top, I find a large establishment of some sort. It is like a zoo or plant nursery, or something; a public facility in any case. The atmosphere feels both a bit tropical like Hawaii and also more arid like New Mexico, and the buildings also have that type of adobe quality to them. I find a path that walks along a large garden area that is full of very rare and interesting plants and shrubs. I become aware that one of the services offered here is that they make their own paper, and offer it freely to whoever may come. So, from no where, I am given a single sheet of hand-made paper (interestingly, the sheet looks exactly like one of the pages from my journal). I then understand that I can choose to dye the paper any color I choose from an arrangement of the wild plants and flowers that grow in this garden. So I walk the path to observe each plant, and what colors they offer. All of the plants are growing in abundance, very healthy and alive, and overflowing onto the path. I see a plant with thick green and purple juicy leaves. I see a plant with flowers of yellow and orange and red like fireworks. I see a plant with a flower that reminds me of the wild ginger here on Maui (that looks like a candle flame), with a bright red liquid inside. I see a plant with bushy bluish-purple flowers that contain small deep-purple berries. When I hold the berries, the juice is a deep reddish purple. Although I like that deep purple-red color, I decide that I will probably want to dye my paper a shade of purple that is more toward the blue spectrum of purple (available from a mix of plants along the path). I'm thinking: something with a mix of the color of Jade Vine blues (see image below). I then walk to the central part of the establishment where there are some buildings, and along the way I see an open doorway to a storage room that is filled with a large type of tropical fruit that looks much like breadfruit or jackfruit, tho it is also smoother and softer, like very large pears (this also reminds me of Hawaii). The place seems somewhat empty of people, and I realize that it is a Sunday, and for that reason not many people from the public would be here. I do see a few people walking around, a man and a women, who seem to be caretakers of the place. I was just about to continue northward thru the core of the establishment, and then I awoke (or the dream shifted) ...
