I was walking down a sunny autumn street, blending into the crowds on the sidewalks because Artificer and Chryseph had just accidentally gotten mixed up with the law while I was hanging with them in a hot tub. I could sense that a policeman was following me, and I wanted to shake the tail.
Suddenly there were sports banners strung up between all the trees, and even blocking the light coming in from the tree top canopy. I saw trash on the ground and the college students everywhere. I realized I was on frat row, perfect place to lose the tail. I quickly started weaving my way through the crowd made my way all the way to the end of it, which turned out to be a dead end.
As I turned around to go back out the way I came, a medium height, baby faced college student named Isaac walked up to me like he was about to start trying to deliver smooth lines. I gently made fun of his efforts in order to calm him down as I started walking back towards the entrance of this college land.
I found Janexi, Chryseph, Artificer, and Geo hanging out part way through the college zone, somewhat waiting for me. They didn't take any guff from Isaac, and his ego started to get in a tizzy and he started protesting our calm, uninterested attitude. I pointed out to him that there was a beautiful baby deer in the flowers in the distance, and upon seeing it he smiled, agreed, and calmed down again.
Then I saw rows of guys playing catch with a baseball and a group of cheerleaders doing some sort of mating dance for them off to one side. There were a bunch of women struggling, pulling on a long rope while some of the men stood by and checked them out. I realized that this is where women of this age/type go to attract a mate. I was a little embarrassed to watch this strange social custom going on, but shrugged it off. I didn't want a mate but I did want to throw the baseball.
I saw one of the guys miss a catch and he started to say that I could throw it if I went and got the ball. I could tell what he was going to say by the time he opened his mouth, so I just said "yes!" and darted away for the ball. I ran back to the starting throwing position with jubilation, relishing the thought of propelling the ball on a perfect trajectory to the mitt on the other side of the field. I was winding up and throwing the ball far into the air when... Wake.
