Falling in the pond...

I was walking along a path between a house and a barn, along a farm road. There were beautiful sunflowers, and I was within my friend Luna's memory. I was watching her recall her childhood living on a farm, leaning up against a fence on that very farm with overalls and her rain boats on singing "country life, country life" and wagging her head back and forth with a smile. I remember critically analyzing how this aspect of her would be received in an urban social setting.

As I walked back to the house from the farm, there was a pond off to my right. It was small and green, and was on a steep decline but looked like the water was only about knee deep. I remembered that Phong had fallen into that pond the day before and had come into the house and reported it to me, calmly with his hair still wet. Nonetheless, I lost my balance on a stray tree root and fell into the pond, which turned out to be quite deep. Calm but surprised, I slowly swam my way to the surface. The pond was very deep, at least 20 feet down, and I almost ran out of air before surfacing but just barely made it. This didn't bother me, but did make me a bit tired.

Walking up to the house, I started taking off my clothes and some green hair falls I had been wearing. Everything was soaked. I sat down in a room where two girls were talking. Suddenly they discovered that they were interested in the same man and started having a dramatic interlude. I got up and left the room to avoid the drama, warning Phong with a glance to avoid that room for the moment if he so chose.

I walked into another room and sat down to rest. Again another drama started up with the people in the room. I narrowed my eyes, pursed my lips, and got up again to leave the energetic set, stripping down naked, pleasantly drying off from my interlude in the deep pond.

I made my way to the very last room at the end of a white hallway, which turned out to be John's room. I sat down on his bed and sensed Phong walking up with others on the other side of John's closed door, also sensing that he was unlikely to knock before entering. I pulled up the covers of John's bed over me in a fluid movement just as the door opened.

Phong entered the room with a few people behind him following suit. I noticed that part of my left leg was still sticking out of the covers exposed but all was relaxed. Phong explained that he wanted me to meet some business people and introduced me to some men and a woman that I hadn't seen before.

I got up to shake their hands and put some sort of clothing over part of me. As I shook their hands, I realized I will still most of the way naked. I considering having this alarm me or make me feel self conscious, but instead I decided to let myself smile and own and enjoy who I was. One of the businessmen was scrutinizing my nakedness. I stared him down with a steady eye and a still heart. He said nothing.

There was also a point when Phong and I were assessing the fridge and cupboards around the house, and Phong was coming up with ideas for optimizing our flow in the farm house. Tom had just gone to the grocery and come back with $500 worth of champagne, veggie broth, and nutrigrain bars. Phong and I asserted that Tom would not be in charge of shopping henceforth. I was looking at all the champagne with dissaproval, one eyebrow up. Phong laughed and we scattered towards our next tasks.
