A thing of unsurpassed Beauty

Underneath the ground... crawling in below. We were in cages. Cells. Rusty iron bars. Everyone left... someone else came to show me.... to show me the depths of where we were, and what we were surrounded by. Two cells down, across the hall, was a large bedroom. Dark, cold, damp. But beautifully furnished.

He told me there was a thing of unsurpassed beauty in this room. We walked in, straight back to the other side of the room. I turned, to see on the far wall, an enormous painting of a beautiful woman. There was music playing, and she began dancing. I danced with her, I knew this dance...

I was low on the floor, toes pointed, spinning and twirling, dizzy... until I got too close to her. Her face appeared large and luminous before me. icy blue. Her head was at least 4x the size of mine. Her head was floating, bodyless, at eye level. She brandished a sword.. also glowing blue... or rather, a large and ornate knife.

The knife was already through me, but I felt nothing. It was a spirit knife. I saw my own body glow blue where the knife was through me. I became lighter. I took the knife, and brandished it at her. She told me I could not take her knife...

Now everyone else was returning. I rushed back to my cell, breathless and flushed from dancing. Aradia was there... returning with the others. I still did not know why we were here...

I sat to contemplate what I had experienced, and wondered how deep this place would go. I wondered what awaited me within the confines of my own cell. What was hidden in the shadows...
