I remember the smell (yes smell) of the earth and the brilliant green of the sunlight streaming through leaves. I was sitting beside a creek listening to the water when I heard rustling behind me. Out of the brush stepped a huge wolf... he stopped and looked at me. Like he was waiting for something. I remember seeing things turn blurry and then all of a sudden Very clear. I looked down at my feet. They had turned into paws. It felt all so natural. My friend and I start running through the forest and I saw myself from somewhere outside of my body. I had turned to a charcoal gray wolf. I remember being elated when I saw this. I felt an awesome freedom. I felt my soul open up and fly as I ran. Nothing seemed impossible.
We ran for what seemed like forever. I remember coming across a door in a tree. I opened it to find that it lead me to my grandmother's house. As I stepped through... I shifted back into my human body and found that my grandmother stood behind me. She had a strange look upon her face... it wasn't quite fear, but it wasn't happy either. She told me that it was time to come home and that I had to stop shifting. My wolf companion came through the door and he didn't turn... even though I somehow knew that he could. I remember him growling at my grandmother because she wanted me to stop. I became fearful... I thought that he was going to hurt her, so I shoved him back through the door and locked it. I heard him howling on the other side and I started crying.
