After a short two-day vacation at the beach I slept over at the girlie's house and had this dream sometime as dawn was emerging. I hadn't slept in a full day prior and had driven three hours into the night before getting a chance to pass out.
I found myself wandering around a two-bed hotel room in search of a bottle of water to accompany me on the journey ahead. It was the last item I needed to have fully packed my backpack. A 'friend' (who I assumed was sharing the hotel with me) was already set and anxiously waiting on me.
We both realized that checkout was in a few hours so this friend (I didn't recognize him as anyone I knew in the waking life) decided to pack up all of his belongings and throw them in his car so that he could leave promptly as we finished. I insisted on leaving my things in the hotel room as I had planned to drop by and pick them up later.
Time flashed and I was climbing the hotel stairwell headed back towards the room. Innately, I knew that this friend and I had successfully completed our trek and that he had already returned home.
I arrived at the platform of the floor our room was on. An intense interest in all of the patterns in the carpet and wallpaper bombarded my perception. I walked leisurely down the tunnel and finally approached, and opened, the room door. I threw down my bag and let out a sigh. Much to my surprise, the room was now occupied by two women.
Each of the girls was an acquaintance from high school. They had both made themselves at home and crawled under the covers. Allison and Heather--their names--looked at each other and then glanced back at me with great confusion. I informed them that I had had rented this room prior and was unaware that I had overshot the checkout time.
Heather, whom I didn't know very well at all, rolled out of bed and decided to leave us. Allison got up, gave me a hug, and we caught up on all the events of our lives that had passed since we last met.
After talking, we made plans to meet up with some of her friends and smoke some hashish. I strapped up my backpack and we began our descent back down the hotel stairwell.
We eventually reached an underground garage. I hopped into the back seat of a jeep which was pervaded by two random guys that didn't speak. Allison was no longer present, instead her role in this dream was replaced by an even closer old-time friend named Christina.
The jeep peeled and we began to inhale the balmy resin. As we sped down the road, I took note of just about every tree, house, fence, animal, and entity in sight. We rounded some pretty intense curves at high speed and I was having a blast.
Not too long after smoking, I noticed a rainbow forming in the distance. It started as a single beam of light and expanded like a fog of colours that formed the known seven-streamed rainbow. The rainbow seemed to engulf itself and explode back into formation repeatedly.
Rainbow rays, aimed for the evening sky, shot out from the fields beside us. I watched as more and more of these rays spouted from the earth. Their rays seemed to continue forever and get lost in the clouds. All scenery behind the opaque rays sparkled with millions of colours. Trees adjacent the fields began to pulse with orbs of colours changing.
A bit mesmerized by the sights, I rested my hand on the padded roll-bar of the jeep above me and looked over at Christina to confirm how beautiful this space had become.
She looked me in the eyes, smiled, nodded, and then joined her hand with mine on the roll-bar. I felt an intense rush of lust, joy, and gratefulness for that moment.
We stared into each others eyes, smiling, for what seemed like a lifetime as the swells of colour collided indefinitely in the background.
