I had joined a group of people who were working to harvest some vegetables that looked similar to white turnips. Though at the time, I didn't know what it was, or exactly how to harvest them, so I was trying to learn by watching other people.
I saw one lady cutting the tops off the turnips with a knife, and I got the impression that they would re-grow after being cut. Then someone else told me that was wrong, and we had to pull them completely out of the ground. This became a frustrating experience, because they seemed to be cemented in the ground, and I didn't have the strength to pull them out. It felt like I would break my back if I kept trying.
I found a solution, by digging around the turnip with a shovel. It was still very slow and tiring work. I regretted signing up for this job.
Eventually, I got up to take a break and walk around. Suddenly there was a pain in my right foot, and I was limping on it. When I looked at it, I saw there was a large, very swollen, white blister on the underside of my foot, in the middle part. I continued limping around until the blister popped. It was gross, but kind of a relief. It felt very real.
In all probability, the foot is to be taken as an ambivalent symbol. For
Jung, it is what confirms Man’s direct relationship with the reality of the earth,
and he considers that it is frequently phallic in significance (31). Ania Teillard
points out that, like the hand, it is an essential part of the body and the support
of one’s entire person; she recalls that in the mythology of a number of countries
the rays of the sun are compared with the feet, as witness the figure of the
swastika (56). But Diel makes the revolutionary assertion that the foot is a
symbol of the soul, possibly because it serves as the support of the body in the
sense of keeping man upright. He quotes examples which show that, in Greek
legends, lameness usually symbolizes some defect of the spirit—some essential
blemish. Jung corroborates this, observing that Hephaestus, Wieland the Blacksmith and Mani all had deformed feet (31). May it not be that certain talents are
given to men to compensate for some physical defect? Schneider has indicated the
heel as the ‘area of vulnerability and of attack’ in the foot. It is the heel that
scotches the serpent or that is wounded by it (as with Achilles, Sigurd, Krishna)
(50). According to Aigremont, ‘the shoe, like the foot and the footprint, has also
a funereal implication. In a sense, a dying man “is going away”. There is no evidence of his going away save his last footmarks. This sombre symbolism is
illustrated, possibly, in the monuments characteristic of the Roman Empire, and,
beyond question, in primitive Christian art. . . .’ (And also, we might add, in
Gothic art. The passage is quoted by Stekel.)

The eleventh enigma of the Tarot pack. The image shows a queen
who, without apparent effort, overcomes a lion, holding his jaws wide open. The
allusion to the Zodiac is clear enough—Leo vanquished by Virgo—and the subject finds its mythological counterpart in Hercules overcome by Omphale. Wirth
points to a highly interesting detail in the allegory: the queen does not slay the
lion, but clasps it to her bosom having stunned it with her club, signifying that one
must not despise the inferior, but master it and put it to good use. There is an echo
here of the alchemists’ belief that what is base must not—and indeed cannot—be
destroyed, it must be transmuted into what is superior. In the affirmative sense,
this enigma symbolizes the triumph of intelligence over brutality; in the negative,
it denotes insensibility and fury (59).
