The long dark corridors of my work-place stretched endlessly and seemed to change shape. No path was consistent and physics made less sense the further I tried to walk. I couldn't see any coworkers. All doors were locked and there were no windows.
Meanwhile my boss spoke to me through an intercom from an undisclosed location. His cool, calm monotone voice was reminiscent to the HAL-9000's cold stoic affect.
"I am not afraid to ask the important questions, Branden." he told me as I carried my small stack of papers through the hallway. "Are you having feelings of anxiety? Doubt? Guilt or shame?"
I tried to ignore my boss. I pretended not to hear him.
"Are you thinking about killing yourself?"
"No." I replied.
"I am only concerned for your well-being. I have to ask these kinds of questions."
