The Elves pt. 2

Bursts of bright lightening illuminated the majestic mountain peaks. The sky glowed a deep, dark purple.
Thunder rolled... lightening flashed... lightening flashed... lightening flashed... thunder rolled.
I've never seen more light than I have heard the roar of thunder! It was magnificent.

I hesitated walking outside to take in the entire essence of the storm. Even though, I've always had a fear of lightening... I've always loved playing in the rain.

I went outside.

I stood on the deck, as much out of the rain as I could and became captivated by the symphony of sound and natures light show.

I did not see them there at first, but my gaze meandered down. Three elves danced.
Splashing their little feet upon the wet deck. They held their hands out, catching the rain and spinning in circles. Oh, how joyous they looked!
A contented smile spread wide across my face. I clapped my hands to the beat of their stomps and spun around a few times.

Upon one of my twirls around... they had all disappeared.

A jazz festival came into my town this weekend, along with it... around four-thousand people. The festival was held at the park next to the river where I usually greet with the elves. I wasn't surprised to see one following me around as I waited tables.

I assumed the amount of people overwhelmed him and he found comfort in following close to me. I know this elf well. He is the first one I met. The one I see the most.

He stayed with me a good while, tugging on my long skirt and distracting me from my tables. I would never oppose the company of this elf, but I ducked behind a counter and asked him to please go away and go back to the special place he showed me... surely, no tourist would venture there. He looked so upset and stumbled off.

I feel a deep connection with this elf though, and I knew he understood. We've seen each other again.
