"Facing" Reality Checks

Morning of December 31, 2014. Wednesday.

Ready to enter a new way of dreaming, I am distracted and not aware I am dreaming. Reality checks would make good practice were it not from the "real" distractions outside which actually are not real. A city council tractor mower is going about on the grassy wayside, back and forth over time, without seeming to ever complete the task. I am sitting on the bed wondering when this noise will stop so that I can rest a bit more (even though I am already sleeping).

I do not even notice the fictional nature of how there is a part of the wall that is directed more into the other part of the main room; a bit like a bay window but inverted and inward. This section also has an extra window facing somewhat towards me (though at somewhat of an angle). I begin to realize that the mower is atypically getting closer and closer to the house.

Eventually, there is a male face in the (fictional) window looking towards me in a way that reflects some sort of hostile attitude. This is the driver of the tractor mower. He is driving so close to the house that he can look through the window and he remains there. Obviously, this makes no sense, as he is also supposedly still driving the tractor mower back and forth at the same time he is there at the window, but this impossibility does not dawn on me as such for whatever reason.

I get up and go to the window and move my hand forward as a vague memory of a reality check ritual where my hand goes against the computer monitor which would otherwise mean I was awake. My fingers go through the window screen, though mostly just bending it outward as if it is very soft, and then they go into his face, mostly destroying it. I soon see that there is nothing there anywhere (no tractor mower either). I am not fully lucid, but I have no qualms about eliminating this character. I am still trying to work out how he could have been driving the tractor and having his face up against the (fictional) window at the same time. This is a nice little failure in non-realization of the dream state.

It is interesting how he looked through a fictional window rather than one of the actual windows relevant to the layout of our house, almost like an additional potential lucidity trigger but which did not work as such.
