Helping with a neighbor’s kite mishap

Morning of September 17, 2013. Tuesday.

This morning, in real life, there was a very strong wind. It was so strong that it blew a very large piece of roofing tin from a neighbor’s house onto our roof, and then onto the ground a few hours later. The piece is as long as a person. There had been a noise earlier, which likely influenced my dream. I guess it was a good thing no one was outside in that area at the time.

In my dream, I go outside and notice a large box kite on the edge of the roof on the left side of the house, sort of tangled and jammed around a corner near the middle section. A neighbor from a few houses south of us comes over and notes his frustration at the incident (but not in an angry sense). He asks for my help in getting it down, which I eventually manage to do somehow as others (including my wife) look on.

The man does make a remark about how he probably should not have been flying the kite because of the way the heavier wind was changing even though he also comments how it is usually a good area to fly a kite (in real life, I have never seen anyone else in the region with a kite - we did have a couple smaller ones ourselves).

It turns out to be a little more than the couple larger pieces of the broken box kite. There are also a few smaller cardboard boxes (one very much like the box sent to me by a brother, of some of my father’s music, just prior to that brother’s death). In addition, some of the boxes have small tools and keys. All of the extra things I find had supposedly been inside the kite and also belonged to the other person. The main additional things I notice are small silver keys - of about the size for a small suitcase. Also, I notice a few hex keys / allen wrenches. Most of these smaller items slide around loosely in the boxes that are much larger for the keys and such than necessary. For some reason, all these small additional items and the smaller cardboard boxes were being flown within the kite as he usually had done (not sure if it was because of some sort of absentmindedness on his part or a regular routine related to some sort of ongoing maintenance of the kite).

The man is thankful of my ability to somehow climb up and get everything down (somehow without a ladder) and most everything is retrieved. There are also other smaller bits, such as a few older broken screws, possibly from the edge of the roof or rain gutter rather than the kite. The detail is quite realistic at this point even when I focus on it directly.
