Morning of June 13, 1978. Tuesday.

In this dream, I am aware that hippopotamuses are constantly swimming about and eating people near a beach as well as knocking over boats (apparently called eights - rowing boats used in the sport of competitive rowing) that seem to be in a local completion. People are warned (there are even signs on shore), but nobody pays heed to either the signs or the actual appearances of the hippopotamuses in the large river.

There is another scene where I am on a small airplane (not a Cessna, some sort of older small type I have seen in older safari movies). There are several people on the airplane, perhaps as many as ten in close proximity. The unfamiliar female pilot (of only about twenty) is having trouble with the airplane and just manages to avoid crashing into the Eiffel Tower by dramatically flying under it, almost as if in slow motion. In my dream, though, this was interesting and exciting - perhaps because my dream is almost bordering on lucidity at this point, but I slowly wake up just after this near-miss event. Even if we had survived the crash, we would have ended up in the river of man-eating hippos - supposedly - but I am certain that there are no rivers of hippos near the Eiffel Tower as such in real life. The airplane also made me associate being on a school bus years before and seemed more like a bus inside - with the sense of familiarity as such. There is also a vague association of school with regard to the airplane, as if it might be part of a school field trip.
