I am in a large city on the east coast of the USA, perhaps Boston, setting out on a journey across the continent to the west coast where the Olympics are being held.
I stop at a nice health food store and hang out for a while before heading back on the road. Before leaving i ask which way to go and get directions.
I walk for a few blocks then get on a bus.
In this very first or perhaps on the second day i lose eveything i have: my knapsack and wallet and electronics including my pocket computer.
So without my digital maps and no money i am quite helpless. I ask the bus driver directions because i am rather disoriented and wander around the neighbourhood a bit before deciding to return to the health food store to see if my stuff is there.
It is very difficult. I am literally penniless and can't even make a call to the store. I wonder where i am going to sleep. I start to worry about who may have my credit cards and banking info and whether they are stealing from me and making my financial position untenable.
I do manage to make my way back to the health food store but unfortunately no one knows where any of my stuff is.
Someone points out that i should have a shower while i can, indeed i am starting to smell, and the workers let me know that the shower can be used with coins or without. I step into the shower and it is extremely cramped with red cloth curtains all around not designed for a shower. It is a wonder they are not all molded up. The shower will run continuously with coins otherwise you have to keep your hand on the controls in order for the water to keep flowing. What a pain in the ass. I shower.
The longer my complete poverty continues the more stressed i become about my inability to do even the simplist of things like staying clean, travel, sleep and eat. I worry some more about a thief completely maxing my credit cards and destroying my financial credibility. I decide i better phone the credit card companies and my banks and cancel everything.
This all sucks. I am so stuck.
